Overview of the Role: The Clean Energy Infrastructure team’s core focus is on clean energy equity investments, and asset & portfolio management. The team comprises c.70 professionals split across the above functions, and located across its key offices in London, Madrid, Milan, Singapore, Seoul, Tokyo, and Charlotte (USA). The team is currently looking to expand of the back of a successful fundraising programme which concluded in Q2 2024. Specifically, the team is looking to recruit a senior associate in the core-plus clean energy equity investments team.
Key responsibilities:
- Modelling and investment proposals
- Ability to build models and operate different types of modelling tools
- Understand and optimise the project contractual structures
- Analyse, define, document, and monitor all key project assumptions
- Understand and analyse project SPV financial statements
- Produce, develop, and review cash flow based financial models for renewable energy generation projects / assets / platforms valuation
- Analyse and interpret results from the financial model, run sensitivities to help with the assessment of the investment case
- Support in drafting investment proposals and investment committee presentations with support and input from Managers and Directors
- Support in training Analysts and Associates on developing financial modelling and valuation skills
Transaction support:
- Support deal leads on origination activities with renewable project developers in EU 27 economies and the UK
- Assist and support in the execution of deals (acquisitions, project financing, divestments)
- Support in the delivery of due-diligence workstreams and project manage transactions and coordinate work products from external advisors (developers/EPC contractors, lawyers, technical advisors, financing providers, etc.)
- Demonstrate aptitude to identify a pipeline of potential transactions sourced from a growing network of contacts and industry sources, with support from the team
Market monitoring:
- Support in monitoring the activities of renewable energy and clean tech organisations
- Conduct research on selected sectors, countries or market segments to identify potential investment opportunities
- Follow regulatory development in the renewable energy sectors (regulatory framework, tariffs, EU targets, etc.)
Fund Level Support: From time to time the role will entail offering support to other teams with Fund level activities. Such activities may include production of marketing materials for fund raising campaign and compilation of VDD materials for prospective LPs.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Min. 4 years relevant working experience
- Equity investment experience essential – with demonstrable track record which may come from experience at an investment management firm, investment bank or M&A advisory house, an energy company / utility / IPP, or consultancy
- Corporate finance or project finance transaction experience
- Significant financial modelling expertise
- Relevant experience and knowledge of power/energy industry
- Fluent English required with additional European languages preferred
- Excellent communication and written skills
- Candidates must have the right to work in the UK
