We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to join our QHSE team and play a key role in maintaining and improving quality systems across our office, stockholding, supply chain, and materials processing operations. Working within an integrated management system aligned to Annex SL and certified standards including AS9100, AS9120, ISO 9001, ISO 19443, ISO 45001, and ISO 14001, you will drive quality improvement initiatives, support customer and supplier quality activities, and ensure compliance with industry and customer requirements. This is an excellent opportunity for a quality professional from a regulated manufacturing environment who enjoys problem‑solving, continuous improvement, and working closely with customers, suppliers, and operational teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead investigations into non-conformances, root cause analysis, and corrective actions.
  • Define and improve inspection processes, control plans, and verification strategies.
  • Drive structured problem-solving activities using methodologies such as 8D and DMAIC.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects to reduce the Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ).
  • Analyse quality data, identify trends, and present findings to management.
  • Own KPI reporting and drive a Right First‑Time culture across the business.
  • Act as the primary contact for customer quality concerns, complaints, and investigations.
  • Manage supplier quality performance, approvals, and improvement activities.
  • Lead risk management activities including FMEA, process risk assessments, and change management.
  • Ensure robust inspection and measurement systems aligned with customer requirements.
  • Maintain calibration systems, measurement strategies, and capability analysis processes.
  • Ensure full product traceability and compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, and customer requirements.
  • Control specifications, engineering drawings, and approved supplier listings.
  • Plan and conduct internal audits and support external certification and customer audits.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Commercial, and Supply Chain teams to embed quality throughout the business lifecycle.
  • Support implementation of APQP, PPAP, MSA, SPC, capability studies, and FAIR activities.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 19443 requirements and promote a strong nuclear safety culture where applicable.
  • Support compliance with customer‑specific quality and regulatory requirements.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

Essential

  • Previous experience as a Quality Engineer within aerospace, automotive, nuclear, or another regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of Quality Management Systems, including AS9100, ISO 19443, and/or ISO 9001.
  • Experience managing non-conformances, customer complaints, and corrective actions.
  • Knowledge of risk management tools including FMEA and process risk assessment.
  • Experience conducting internal audits and supporting external audits.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
  • Strong analytical skills with advanced Microsoft Excel capability.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
  • HNC, HND, Degree, or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, or a related discipline.

Desirable

  • Six Sigma Green Belt or higher qualification.
  • Experience with APQP, PPAP, SPC, MSA, FAIRs, and capability studies.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
  • Strong collaborative working style and ability to influence across multiple functions.
