The Field Trainer - New Installations will support the New Installations business through the delivery of practical on-site training, installation audits and technical support across the UK. Reporting to the Head of New Installations Operations, this field-based role will work directly with installation teams, supervisors, testers and subcontractors to improve workforce competence, drive installation quality, promote safe working practices and support the successful commissioning and handover of lift installations.
As a Field Trainer - New Installations, your day to day will include:
- Deliver practical on-site training and coaching on lift installation methods and commissioning procedures.
- Train fitters and subcontractors on installation methodology and commissioning activities, including achieving nominal speed operation.
- Assess workforce competency and identify development requirements.
- Mentor apprentices, improvers and installation personnel to enhance technical capability.
- Support accreditation and certification programmes and promote best practice across the New Installations business.
- Conduct installation audits to verify compliance with approved installation methods, quality standards and safety requirements.
- Identify non-conformances and opportunities for improvement across installation projects.
- Produce audit reports and support project teams in implementing corrective actions.
- Monitor audit trends and provide feedback to management to support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide on-site and remote technical support to New Installation project teams.
- Assist with fault finding, commissioning activities and technical problem resolution.
- Support project managers, supervisors and installation teams in overcoming technical challenges.
- Escalate complex technical issues where required and support the implementation of permanent solutions.
- Promote the sharing of technical knowledge, best practice and lessons learned across the business.
- Champion health, safety and quality standards, ensuring consistent application across all New Installation projects.
- Travel extensively throughout the UK to support project teams, training activities and audit programmes.
- VQ Level 3 in Lift Installation is a mandatory minimum requirement.
- Significant experience in lift installation, testing and commissioning.
- Strong technical knowledge of lift systems, installation methods and commissioning procedures.
- Proven ability to coach, mentor and develop installation personnel within a live construction environment.
- Experience supporting workforce competency development and promoting technical best practice.
- Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively at all levels.
- Good understanding of health, safety and quality requirements within the lift industry.
- Experience conducting technical or quality audits would be advantageous.
- Knowledge of EN81 standards and industry best practice would be beneficial.
- Experience working with MRL products is desirable.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Willingness to travel extensively throughout the UK.
- Positive attitude, self-motivated and committed to continuous improvement.
