We're partnering with one of Europe's fastest-growing AI software companies to find exceptional Forward Deployed Engineers who thrive at the intersection of engineering, customer delivery, and cutting-edge AI. This is a highly client-facing engineering role where you'll work directly with enterprise customers to deploy, integrate, and optimise AI-powered platforms in complex real-world environments. You'll be responsible for turning signed contracts into production systems that deliver measurable business value.

If you enjoy solving difficult technical problems, building production-grade solutions, and working closely with customers, this is an opportunity to have an immediate impact in a high-growth AI business.

The Opportunity

As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you'll act as the technical bridge between Product, Engineering, and enterprise customers. You'll own deployments from initial architecture through to production delivery, working hands-on with modern AI infrastructure, retrieval systems, cloud environments, and custom integrations. This is not a support role. You'll write code, design solutions, make architectural decisions, and work directly with client engineering teams to ensure successful adoption.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Deploy & Integrate AI Solutions
  • Lead end-to-end implementation projects within customer environments
  • Design and build integrations between the platform and customer systems
  • Configure AI agents, retrieval pipelines, and workflow automations
  • Partner directly with customer engineering and technical stakeholders
  • Adapt solutions to customer data models, authentication systems, and business processes
  • Deliver production-ready code across multiple environments
  • Infrastructure & Platform Delivery
  • Support cloud and self-hosted deployments
  • Work with Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure-as-Code
  • Troubleshoot production environments and ensure reliable operation
  • Customer Engagement
  • Run technical workshops, architecture reviews, and discovery sessions
  • Act as a trusted technical advisor throughout the customer journey
  • Help customers become advanced users and advocates of the platform
  • Influence Product Direction
  • Provide direct feedback from customer deployments
  • Identify product gaps, recurring requirements, and enhancement opportunities
  • Collaborate closely with Product and Engineering teams

Skills:

  • 5+ years in Software Engineering, Solutions Engineering, Professional Services, Technical Consulting, or a similar customer-facing engineering role
  • Proven experience delivering technical projects from concept through production deployment
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Strong commercial experience with TypeScript and Node.js
  • Python development experience
  • API development and integrations (REST, GraphQL)
  • Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud infrastructure
  • Familiarity with Terraform and Infrastructure-as-Code principles
  • Understanding of modern AI systems, LLMs, embeddings, vector databases, or retrieval architectures is highly desirable
  • Exposure to observability and monitoring tools such as Grafana, Datadog, or Sentry

AI-Native Engineering

We are looking for engineers who actively leverage AI to accelerate delivery. You'll use modern AI tools to:

  • Accelerate integration and development work
  • Generate documentation and technical artefacts
  • Improve testing and debugging workflows
  • Rapidly prototype and validate solutions
  • Deliver faster outcomes for customers

What's On Offer

  • Competitive base salary + equity potential
  • Hybrid working across London and the UK
  • Opportunity to work with some of the most advanced AI technology in Europe
  • High-impact, customer-facing role with significant ownership

How to prepare for a job interview at THYME

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If THYME uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Showcase Your Projects

Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
