We are looking for Kitchen Porters to join our passionate Kitchen team in both our Thyme Restaurant – The Ox Barn, and our award-winning Village Pub – The Swan. Rooted in a passion for the local land, food and entertaining, our carefully curated menus tell a story of the farm and seasons. Under the direction of Charlie Hibbert, the chefs and gardeners at Thyme work together to select and grow the fruits, vegetables and herbs used to create his modern British countryside fare. A sustainable ethos and a dedication to good, honest food served without pretention is at the heart of our kitchen. Our menus change daily in response to the produce in our two acre kitchen garden, in addition to using fresh eggs from our flocks of hens, geese, quail and ducks and lamb, hogget and mutton from their rare-breed sheep.

The Ox Barn is a contemporary restaurant with a spectacular bar and seven-and-a-half metre Charvet open kitchen. Just a short stroll from Thyme, The Swan sits at the heart of the village of Southrop adjacent to the green. Its recorded history dates back as far as 1606 when it was known as the Bakehouse, serving bread and ale to the farm workers.

  • To ensure the kitchen areas are kept clean and tidy
  • Supporting the chefs during service, cleaning and returning essential cooking equipment
  • Working with the FOH team to ensure a quick and clean turnaround of washing up

  • Cleaning down after service and ensuring all surfaces and floors are spotless
  • Making sure outside areas are clean, tidy and swept, free of cigarettes and rubbish and perfect for guests
  • Assisting chefs with basic prep as needed

Skills

  • Organised, efficient and methodical
  • Happy to work in a team
  • Enjoy the busy rush of service

We are set in a rural location, so your own transport is essential. OTE for this role based on a 40 hour week is £29,500 pa.
