The finance team itself is relatively new, with a number of members who have recently joined the business, and is growing in line with our ambitious plans.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a proactive, hands‑on finance professional to make a real impact, help build scalable processes, strengthen controls, and develop a talented team as we scale.
Responsibilities

- Manage the month‑end and year‑end close processes, including the preparation of hire fleet reconciliations covering acquisitions, disposals, and depreciation.
- Manage the relationship with banks and funders in relation to asset finance arrangements.
- Ensure robust financial controls, processes, and procedures are in place and continuously improved.
- Support the CFO with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning to underpin revenue growth targets.
- Oversee statutory accounts preparation and liaise with external auditors.
- Manage VAT, tax compliance, and other statutory reporting requirements.
- Drive process improvements and efficiencies, including system enhancements, to support a scaling business.
- Provide commercial insight and analysis to support decision‑making across the business.
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Manage cash flow, working capital, and treasury functions.
- Support due diligence and reporting requirements for any wider corporate activity (e. g., funding, M&A).
- Deputise for the CFO as required.
Qualifications
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
- Proven experience in a Finance Controller or similar senior finance role, ideally within a fast‑growth or scaling business.
- Experience managing and developing a finance team.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and commercial acumen.
- Experience within the hire, rental, asset‑based, or similar sector advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills with the confidence to engage with senior stakeholders.
- A proactive, enthusiastic, and positive approach, with a hands‑on attitude.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with high attention to detail.
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, evolving environment and adapting to changing priorities.
- Strong systems skills (Excel essential; experience with Sage desirable).
- A natural leader who can inspire and motivate a team to deliver during a period of growth.
