Thursday is a singles IRL events company that organises singles events, trips, dinners, activities, education and media. We're building technology to scale our operations and enhance the experience for our members.

We're seeking a UX/UI Designer with strong opinionated design skills paired with front-end development ability to shape how our products look, feel, and work. You'll establish best practices for front-end design across the company and help implement them - building design systems, component libraries, and patterns that scale across our internal platform, customer-facing websites, mobile apps, and new products.

Experience Level: Mid-level (2+ years experience in design and development)

Location: Primarily remote, with regular in-office meetups and attendance at company events expected

Technical Skills:

  • Design
  • Strong UI/UX fundamentals (layout, typography, colour, spacing)
  • Experience designing for web and mobile
  • Proficiency in Figma (or similar)
  • Portfolio showing end-to-end product design work
  • Development
    • HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript
    • React (our stack is React + TypeScript + Tailwind)
    • Comfortable turning designs into responsive, accessible interfaces
    • Experience creating reusable component libraries
    • Mobile development (React Native, iOS, Android) - nice to have
  • AI & Tools
    • Uses AI assistants (Claude, Cursor, etc.) effectively to accelerate work
    • Keeps up with AI developments in design and applies them practically
    • Can critically evaluate AI-generated output
    • Views AI as a tool to augment creativity, not replace it

    • Work with different parts of the company (marketing, operations, partnerships) to gather requirements and feedback
    • Collaborate with external partners and stakeholders to understand their needs
    • Turn feedback into actionable improvements
    • Identify opportunities where better design can solve business problems
    • Market your work and champion good UX across the company
