Thurrock’s Debt Management Team is highly recognized, having been nominated twice for the IRRV (Institute of Revenues Rating and Valuation) Most Improved Team of the Year Award, finalists in 2012, and achieving a Bronze Award in 2013. The team is currently looking for experienced Court Officers to join this dynamic team. You will be responsible for managing the collection processes of various Debt Portfolios owed to the Council. You will handle cases through Court Processes, attending and presenting cases at County Court and Magistrates Court Hearings, including Liability Order and Committal Means Enquiry Hearings. The ideal candidate will have: Confidence in managing difficult conversations Knowledge of debt collection processes (ideally Council Tax, Non-Domestic Rates, and Sundry debts) Knowledge of the Money Claims Online (MCOL) process Understanding of County Court processes and enforcement methods Knowledge of Charging Orders, Bankruptcy, and Committal processes Understanding of the Thurrock Fair Debt Policy Negotiation skills Experience communicating with the public Knowledge of the Means Enquiry process for Committal Hearings In return, we offer: Generous annual leave – 25 days rising to 30 after 5 years Flexible working arrangements Employee Assistance Programme Training and CPD opportunities Supportive supervision and management Closing Date: 18th August 2024 Interview date: TBC For the Job Profile and Person Specification, please follow the link below: #J-18808-Ljbffr
