To support the Senior Public Health Analyst in delivering high level, specialist analysis for the Public Health Team. To manage relationships with colleagues and stakeholders at various levels delivering, under supervision, professional analytical support and advice to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of delivery in all services and functions. Contribute to the formulation and implementation of robust and effective risk stratification, cost benefit analysis and other strategic evaluations. Support service and corporate transformation and improvement initiatives. To provide effective line management and be a role model to the team. To deputise for the Senior Public Health Analyst and Public Health Principal as and when required. To contribute to the personal development and upskilling of more junior members of the team. Act as an ambassador for change and promote our values ensuring they are reflected and embedded in everything we do.
Key Duties
- To support the delivery of expert statistical advice to the ongoing development and implementation of relevant analytical projects.
- Manage, support, develop and monitor projects within the team work plan.
- Evaluate value for money of commissioned intervention/projects across public health portfolios improving efficiency and innovation.
- Lead the data elements of needs assessments, providing robust, up to date and reliable data and intelligence.
- To work with the Public Health leads, and other Service Managers within Thurrock Council and health partners as required.
- Provide Health Intelligence in the form of surveillance of infections diseases and when required to protect health.
- To work at all times to accepted notions of best practice in the area of equal opportunities and anti-discrimination offering a proactive lead for staff and others.

- Skills in the use of at least some of the following: spreadsheets, databases, GIS, statistical software (e.g. R, Stata, SAS, SPSS, Python).
Essential qualifications
- Educated Degree level in public health, statistics or related discipline or significant experience of working at a similar level in specialist area.
Essential Experience
- Some experience in the use and application of complex statistical and epidemiological methods.
- Experience in the use of statistical and epidemiological methods for interpreting and understanding data sets.
- Knowledge of how linked data can be used to improve health and an understanding of the principles and approaches to data linkage.
- Experience of developing, implementing, maintaining and enforcing policies and procedures.
- Experience of working in a business/customer service environment with line management responsibilities.
- Degree or equivalent in Statistics, a numerate subject, Public Health or an equivalent relevant qualification.
