About the Role
Library Workers provide an essential frontline service ensuring that our customers of all ages get the best from their library service. The ability to work under pressure and to adapt within a constantly changing environment is essential. You will need to be able to quickly master the varied aspects of library routines, including front line customer care, using the library management system, the self-service machines, handling cash, stock requests and stock procedures.
What We Are Looking For
To succeed in this role, you must be able to communicate well and demonstrate a mature and professional attitude coupled with an enthusiasm to learn. Previous experience of customer care in a similar environment and good computer skills are essential. The role involves a significant amount of standing, bending and carrying heavy weights. You will need to be able to travel to all of the libraries within Thurrock if cover is required. You must be able to work flexible hours including weekends and evenings and be able to travel to all libraries (Monday to Friday between 9.00am and 7.00pm and Saturday between 9am – 1pm).
