Thurrock Council is serious about tackling fraud committed against the authority and the wider public sector, ensuring that public money is safeguarded. The Counter Fraud Investigation Team works with Thurrock and Castle Point Council and the various departments contained within. The team is looking for an experienced accredited investigations practitioner with a background in local authority fraud investigation.

As a key member of the team, you will have experience in crime affecting the public sector. The service is a 24/7 function, and you will be expected to work unsociable hours where necessary to achieve our objectives. You will be a well-respected practitioner in criminal investigation with demonstrable success of applying innovation and best practice to crime problems. The position is available within the Counter Fraud Team, and we are seeking those that have experience within the investigation of criminality within a Local Authority setting. You must have investigative experience from a recognised law enforcement agency such as the Police Service, NCA, HMRC or equivalent.

Essential qualifications:

  • Nationally recognised law enforcement investigation qualification which can include the Accredited Counter Fraud Specialist, PIP2 and relevant recent experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain national security clearance to a minimum of SC level and NPPV3.
