Context of the Role
The Product Manager for Global Accounts and Payment Rails will be responsible for defining and driving the product strategy, roadmap, and execution for Thunes' global collections and settlement capabilities to accelarate our Business Payments. This role is critical in enabling next-generation financial institutions (Banks, Wallets, Fintechs), and global Merchants to easily facilitate global payments through multi-currency Virtual Account (VA) and local payment rail integrations.
You will be an end-to-end owner, taking full responsibility from ideation and market validation through to technical requirements, go-to-market, and continuous performance feedback. Success in this role requires a deep understanding of the global payments landscape, including regulatory requirements, clearing and settlement mechanisms, and the technical complexities of connecting to diverse national payment schemes. You will champion your product both internally and externally.
Key Focus Areas
- Global Accounts: Building and enhancing multi-currency account capabilities (VIBAN, unique identifiers) for collections, in-country payouts, and holding balances.
- Payment Rails Integration: Driving the integration with and participation in national payment schemes (e.g., SEPA, Faster Payments System (FPS), ACH, Direct Debit globally) to facilitate seamless, fast, and cost-effective local collections and settlements.
- Business Payments Acceleration: Optimizing the entire cross-border B2B payments lifecycle to reduce friction, increase speed, and enhance transparency for Thunes' corporate clients.
Responsibilities
Product Strategy and Vision for Global Accounts & Rails
- Define and own the strategic vision and roadmap for Thunes' Global Accounts and local payment rail integration products, ensuring alignment with Thunes’ overall growth strategy.
- Conduct in-depth market research, competitive analysis, and customer interviews to identify new opportunities for collections and settlements products that meet the evolving needs of Fintechs, Banks, and Merchants.
- Develop clear product documentation, including feature requirements, user stories, use cases, and acceptance criteria for the engineering teams.
Driving Payment Rail Execution and Integration
- Lead the product implementation lifecycle for integration with new global and domestic payment schemes (Direct and Indirect participation models).
- Deeply understand the technical and operational requirements of schemes like SEPA, FPS, BACS, FedNow, UPI, PIX, etc., and translate them into product features and integration specifications.
- Ensure that Virtual Account and payment rail products meet all necessary compliance, regulatory, and reconciliation standards for cross-border money movement and safeguarding.
Accelerating Business Payments
- Benchmark and accelerate the time-to-settlement across key payment corridors, focusing on minimizing intermediary bank involvement and leveraging real-time payment systems where available.
- Drive product features that enhance traceability, transparency, and enriched remittance data for business payments, improving reconciliation and operational efficiency for customers.
- Develop solutions for flexible payment initiation and bulk processing tailored to high-volume B2X use cases such as supplier payments, payroll, and marketplace collections and settlements.
Stakeholder Collaboration and Leadership
- Serve as the primary product expert, working closely with Network, Treasury, Finance, Compliance, and Legal teams to ensure operational readiness, liquidity management, and regulatory adherence.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Architecture teams to define scalable, modular, and robust technical solutions for the global accounts platform.
- Support Business Development and Sales teams with product collateral, training, and deep technical expertise for key customer engagements.

Required Experience and Skills
- 5+ years of Product Management experience in a FinTech or Financial Services environment, focused on payments, banking, or core infrastructure products.
- Mandatory deep hands-on experience with Bank payment rails and integrating with/participating in national payment schemes (e.g., SEPA, FPS, ACH, Direct Debit, Real-Time Payment schemes globally).
- Proven experience in building or managing Virtual Account (VA) or digital IBAN/Account Identifier capabilities for corporate or institutional clients.
- Strong technical acumen with the ability to articulate complex payment system requirements and integration flows to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Solid understanding of global cash management, reconciliation, settlement, and safeguarding processes, specifically in a B2X cross-border context.
