Salary: Β£13.45 per hour (depending on experience and qualifications)
Job type: Part-time
Working Hours: Hours of work Saturday 12:00 β 17:00 and Sunday 09:00 β 17:00 (1 hour for lunch) per week on a fortnightly basis.
Job summary: This is a joint role combining front-of-house client care responsibilities with practical animal care support. The successful candidate will divide their time between reception duties and assisting the veterinary team with patient care, helping to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the practice. We are looking for an individual who enjoys working with both people and animals, possesses excellent customer service skills, and is committed to providing outstanding care for our patients and clients. The successful candidate must hold a recognised Animal Care qualification and be confident handling animals in a veterinary environment.
Key responsibilities
- Reception & client care
- Act as the first point of contact for clients, both in person and over the telephone.
- Welcome clients and their pets in a friendly and professional manner.
- Book appointments and manage veterinary and nursing diaries.
- Register new clients and patients and maintain accurate records.
- Process invoices, payments, and insurance documentation.
- Respond to client enquiries regarding appointments, preventative healthcare, and practice services.
- Promote preventative healthcare products and services, including Practice Plans and pet insurance.
- Handle client concerns and complaints professionally and empathetically.
- Carry out general administrative and clerical duties.
- Animal care assistance
- Safely handle and restrain animals during consultations, examinations, and treatments.
- Assist veterinary surgeons and nurses with routine patient care.
- Prepare consulting rooms and treatment areas for clinical procedures.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and infection control throughout the practice.
- Clean and disinfect kennels, consulting rooms, treatment areas, and equipment.
- Assist with stock management, including monitoring and replenishing medications, food, and consumables.
- Support the dispensing of repeat prescriptions in accordance with practice procedures.
- Monitor patient welfare and report concern to the veterinary team.
- General duties
- Work collaboratively with veterinary surgeons and vet nurses.
- Maintain a professional, welcoming, and safe environment for clients, patients, and colleagues.
- Attend training sessions, staff meetings, and CPD activities as required.
- Undertake any other duties reasonably required to support the efficient running of the practice.
Essential
- Recognised Animal Care qualification.
- Practical experience handling and working with animals.
