THRIVIN is a fast-growing, social-first women's activewear brand, built around a strong digital presence, an engaged community, and a passion for empowering women through fitness and fashion. As we continue to scale internationally, we're looking for an experienced, commercially driven Merchandiser with a strong background in buying and merchandising within fast-paced ecommerce and DTC fashion businesses.

The Role

We're looking for a highly commercial, analytical, and product-focused Merchandiser who thrives in a fast-moving, high-growth environment.

Reporting to the Head of Operations, you'll take ownership of our buying and merchandising strategy, ensuring we have the right product assortment, commercial buying decisions, and range architecture to maximise sales and profitability.

You'll work closely with our dedicated Demand Planner, who is responsible for demand forecasting, inventory projections, and stock planning. Your focus will be on the commercial side of merchandising, using sales performance, customer insights, and market trends to influence what we buy, how much we invest, and how we optimise our product ranges.

You'll collaborate closely with our product, design, production, ecommerce, and marketing teams to ensure our collections are commercially successful and aligned with customer demand.

The ideal candidate will have significant hands-on buying and merchandising experience within a fast-paced ecommerce or DTC fashion or activewear brand, with a strong understanding of frequent product launches, rapid trading cycles, and high-volume product assortments.

Key Responsibilities

Buying & Merchandising Strategy

  • Develop and execute commercial buying and merchandising strategies aligned with THRIVIN's growth objectives.
  • Own assortment strategy, range architecture, and product mix across categories, collections, and markets.
  • Make commercially informed buying recommendations, including product selection, range depth, colourways, size curves, and investment priorities.
  • Work closely with the Demand Planner to align buying decisions with demand forecasts, inventory requirements, and stock availability.
  • Analyse historical sales, product performance, and customer behaviour to inform future buying decisions.
  • Identify opportunities to expand bestselling products, introduce new categories, and optimise underperforming ranges.
  • Ensure the right balance between core evergreen products, seasonal collections, and new product launches.
  • Support pricing and margin strategies to maximise profitability.

Product Range & Assortment Planning

  • Lead commercial range planning across upcoming collections and product launches.
  • Work closely with design and product development teams to ensure new collections align with customer demand and commercial opportunities.
  • Determine the optimal product mix across styles, colours, sizes, and categories.
  • Evaluate the commercial potential of new product concepts, trends, and category expansions.
  • Review range performance and recommend adjustments to future assortments.
  • Identify opportunities for repeat buys, range extensions, and additional colourways based on product performance.
  • Ensure product ranges are commercially balanced and aligned with brand positioning.

Commercial Trading & Performance Analysis

  • Monitor daily, weekly, and monthly sales performance across products, categories, and international markets.
  • Analyse key merchandising KPIs, including sell-through, gross margin, product profitability, average selling price, and full-price sales performance.
  • Identify bestselling products, emerging trends, and underperforming styles, taking proactive action to optimise commercial performance.
  • Conduct detailed SKU-level analysis to understand performance by product, colour, size, and market.
  • Provide commercial recommendations on replenishment priorities, promotional activity, and future buying decisions.
  • Partner with ecommerce and marketing teams to align product priorities with trading activity and campaign calendars.
  • React quickly to viral products, changing customer demand, and emerging trends.
  • Conduct post-launch performance reviews and translate findings into future range and buying strategies.

Buying & Stock Investment

  • Own commercial buying decisions and product investment recommendations, working within agreed budgets and approval processes.
  • Partner with the Demand Planner to ensure buying quantities are supported by accurate demand forecasts and inventory projections.
  • Review proposed purchase quantities from a commercial perspective, considering product performance, margin, customer demand, and growth opportunities.
  • Identify opportunities to maximise sales through strategic repeat buys and replenishment recommendations.
  • Work closely with finance and operations to ensure buying decisions align with profitability targets and working capital objectives.
  • Support the management of buying budgets and commercial product investment.
  • Collaborate with production and supply chain teams to ensure buying priorities align with production capabilities and lead times.

Product Launches & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with design, product development, ecommerce, and marketing teams to support a fast-paced product launch calendar.
  • Provide commercial input into new product development and upcoming collections.
  • Ensure product assortments align with key campaigns, seasonal opportunities, and customer demand.
  • Collaborate with the Demand Planner to align commercial launch priorities with stock availability and inventory plans.
  • Support ecommerce teams with product prioritisation, merchandising opportunities, and trading strategies.
  • Present regular commercial performance updates, buying recommendations, and range insights to the Head of Operations and senior leadership.

About You

  • 5+ years of experience in buying and merchandising, ideally within a fast-paced ecommerce or DTC fashion, activewear, or apparel brand.
  • Strong hands-on experience in commercial buying, assortment planning, range architecture, and product performance analysis.
  • Proven experience managing high-volume, multi-SKU product ranges within a rapidly growing ecommerce business.
  • Strong understanding of buying cycles, product launches, range planning, and commercial trading.
  • Experience making buying decisions based on sales performance, customer demand, and commercial insights.
  • Excellent understanding of merchandising KPIs, including sell-through, gross margin, product profitability, and full-price performance.
  • Experience working collaboratively with demand planning, inventory planning, production, and supply chain functions.
  • Advanced Excel or Google Sheets skills, with strong analytical and commercial reporting capabilities.
  • Ability to translate complex sales data into actionable buying and merchandising recommendations.
