Are you a Multi-Trades Maintenance or Building Fabric Engineer looking for a new mobile role covering the Rochester (ME) area? You will be working as part of an established team of maintenance engineers, supporting a portfolio of retail contracts across the region. This is a hands-on, mobile role requiring a strong fabric maintenance background and a customer-focused approach.
The Role
As a Multi-Trades Building Fabric Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality planned and reactive maintenance across multiple sites. You will act as a key representative of the company when dealing with clients and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver reactive and remedial maintenance to a high standard across retail sites
- Use initiative to diagnose and resolve technical issues, including sourcing parts and liaising with manufacturers where required
- Produce detailed and accurate reports of works carried out to keep clients fully informed
- Ensure all tasks are completed within agreed timescales and in line with current regulations and contract specifications
- Maintain accurate records, including operation and maintenance logs and risk control measures
- Use PDAs or electronic devices to log and close jobs
- Liaise closely with the Helpdesk to ensure an efficient response to all maintenance requests
- Work independently or as part of a team, depending on operational requirements
- Carry out point-of-work risk assessments and maintain the highest standards of Health & Safety
- Provide call-out support across all contracts as required
- Maintain a professional and courteous manner when dealing with clients at all times
Skills & Experience Required
- Customer-focused with a practical, problem-solving mindset
- Strong communication skills as a key point of contact for clients and colleagues
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise in a fast-paced environment
- Collaborative approach with a commitment to team success
Essential Requirements
- Relevant trade qualification
- Minimum 3 years' experience in a building maintenance role
- Strong all-round knowledge of building systems, with experience in:
- Carpentry and general fabric works
- Wet trades and minor plumbing
- Tiling and basic groundworks
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- FDIS or equivalent fire door qualification
- Fire compartmentation experience
- IOSH Working Safely or CSCS Card
- IT skills, including use of PDAs
- Asbestos Awareness (UKATA)
- CSR / CSCS Health & Safety qualification
