Carpenter / Fire Door Maintenance Engineer Bristol & Surrounding Areas £38,000 - £40,000 + Company Benefits
We are looking for an experienced Carpenter / Fire Door Maintenance Engineer to provide a comprehensive fire door maintenance service across Bristol and surrounding area.
Working closely with a large client, you will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining and repairing fire doors, ensuring all works comply with current legislation, Building Regulations and required standards as well as dealing with Carpentry maintenance tasks such as skirting, architrave, door locks and hinges.
Key Responsibilities Carry out maintenance and repair works on fire doors across a large hospitality contract.
Ensure all works comply with current Building Regulations, fire door legislation and relevant standards.
Assess individual jobs and prepare accurate quotations detailing labour hours and required materials.
Liaise directly with clients regarding queries and provide clear explanations of technical requirements and product specifications.
Inspect completed works and certify that fire doors meet the required standards.
Complete and submit all relevant certification and documentation for client records.
Maintain accurate job records, including detailed notes and photographic/documentary evidence where required.
Update internal systems with job progress and completion information.
Work within agreed customer SLAs and ensure jobs are completed efficiently and professionally.
Support the Account Manager and Billing Team with queries to assist with the invoicing process.
Maintain strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
Essential NVQ Level 2 in Carpentry or equivalent.
Highly skilled in general carpentry and maintenance work.
Strong knowledge of current Fire Door legislation and relevant standards.
Experience inspecting, maintaining and repairing fire doors.
Ability to assess works and provide accurate labour and material requirements.
Strong communication skills with the ability to deal confidently with clients.
Ability to produce clear, professional reports, job notes and emails.
Comfortable using multiple IT systems and maintaining accurate records.
Strong problem-solving skills with a practical and hands-on approach.
Ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of workmanship.
Good understanding of the importance of compliance, quality and customer service.
Desirable Previous experience working within the hospitality, facilities management or building maintenance sector.
Experience working across multiple client sites.
Additional fire door or fire safety qualifications.
Knowledge of relevant British Standards and Building Regulations relating to fire doors.
