Position Overview
Brookridge is seeking a qualified and compassionate Nail Technician to provide professional nail care services to residents across Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Skilled Nursing settings. This role requires strict adherence to infection prevention practices, CMS guidelines, and resident-centered care standards while delivering services that enhance dignity, comfort, and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide manicures, pedicures, and basic nail care services appropriate for older adults, including those with mobility, cognitive, or medical limitations.
- Deliver services in resident apartments, designated salon spaces, or bedside as appropriate and approved.
- Adhere to all infection prevention and control protocols, including hand hygiene, tool sanitation, and use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Follow CMS, state, and community-specific guidelines for providing personal services in Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing environments.
- Screen residents prior to services for open wounds, skin integrity issues, nail fungus, or medical contraindications and defer services as clinically indicated.
- Coordinate with nursing staff when providing services in Skilled Nursing to ensure resident safety and compliance with care plans.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workspace before, during, and after each service.
- Demonstrate professionalism, patience, and respect for residents, families, and team members.
- Maintain accurate appointment scheduling and service records as required by the community.
Infection Control & Regulatory Compliance
- Comply with CMS Infection Prevention & Control standards, including those applicable to Skilled Nursing Facilities.
- Follow all state cosmetology board sanitation requirements.
- Clean, disinfect, and store all tools and equipment according to approved protocols between each resident.
- Use single-use or properly disinfected implements only.
- Adhere to community policies related to isolation precautions, outbreaks, or enhanced infection control measures.
- Participate in community-required orientation or training related to infection control, HIPAA awareness, and resident safety.
Qualifications
- Active Cosmetology License or Nail Technician License in good standing.
- Experience working with seniors and/or healthcare environments preferred.
- Knowledge of infection control principles and safe nail care for older adults.
- Ability to work independently in a regulated healthcare setting.
- Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to resident dignity and safety.
- Must carry personal professional liability insurance.
Independent Contractor (1099) Status
This position is classified as a 1099 Independent Contractor and does not constitute employment. Contractor sets availability within community-approved hours. Compensation structure to be determined (e.g., percentage split, flat rate, or per-service fee). Contractor is responsible for all taxes, insurance, licensure, tools, and supplies unless otherwise agreed.
