Join Thrive Tribe on a journey to empower over a million people to change their behaviours and thrive. Thrive Tribe delivers award-winning healthy lifestyle and wellbeing programmes and is growing the Heathier You NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme (NDPP) across South East London. We are looking for passionate health coaches (or Diabetes Prevention Practitioners) to join us on a sessional contract basis.

The purpose of a health coach is to improve lives by empowering people to make effective long-term changes that halt or reverse the progression of Type 2 Diabetes. This is achieved through delivering our quality programmes, providing evidence-based information, supporting individuals to improve their health, lose weight and lower their risk of developing diabetes.

Like all roles at Thrive Tribe, your time at work should be fun, varied and challenging. The role can evolve as the team grows and your strengths develop.

Responsibilities
  • Delivering evidence-based group 2-hour face to face sessions that focus on diet, nutrition, physical activity and behaviour change.
  • Facilitating these group sessions in community venues across South London to support service users in achieving their goals and cultivating a safe and positive environment.
  • Engaging in ongoing training relevant to your role, such as Behaviour Change Level 1 and 2.
  • Working towards criteria and targets established within the National Diabetes Prevention Programme (NDPP) quality assurance framework, including all Clinical Governance procedures.
  • Ensuring due consideration and adherence to Thrive Tribe policies, including Information Governance, Safeguarding and Complaints procedures.
  • Helping to maintain Thrive Tribe ethos by driving our organisational culture forward across services and embedding our values.
About You

More than anything, we are looking for a team player who puts their heart into their work. We have core values that run through everything we do and would love for you to resonate with them.

  • Be the change – You like helping people. You will be working with those who need help the most, empowering them to make positive changes to thrive.
  • Be effective – You are patient and can adapt under pressure. Always happy to make time for others, and you have a great attitude.
  • Be happy – You recognise the power of a smile. You value a fun, supportive workplace and want to come to work ready to go.
  • Be successful – You are motivated and driven. Happy working solo or as part of a team, you love meeting targets and will be given opportunities to contribute and develop your career.
  • Be big-hearted – You want to make a difference. You will be part of a like-minded team of optimistic people doing meaningful work and changing lives.

We are looking for someone who combines health improvement knowledge with first-class communication and motivational skills. If you have experience delivering group-based interventions and understand how personal characteristics and circumstances affect health behaviours, we want to hear from you. Bonus points if you have a qualification in a health promotion-related subject (e.g., nutrition, exercise, or health coaching).

Not essential, but we particularly welcome applicants fluent in Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Urdu, Spanish, and/or British Sign Language to help us best support clients in London.

We hire based on attitude over traditional skills and experience, so if you don’t have all the necessary experience but feel you are right for the job, we’d love to hear from you.

Note: The role requires varied and flexible working pattern including evenings and/or weekend work.

Benefits
  • Flexible working – life/work balance
  • Tailored health and wellbeing support
  • Rewards portal with discounts on shops, restaurants, and days out
  • Access to Mental Health First Aid and other training courses

Contract: Hourly paid, sessional contract. We are looking for someone who can deliver at least 3 sessions per week. The Diabetes Prevention Programme consists of 13 sessions over 9 months, with multiple sessions per month likely.

Salary: £12.82 - £19.51 per hour

To apply: Attach your CV and a covering letter outlining why you are right for the position.

Location: Hybrid-remote role with some home working and regular travel across South London. Please only apply if based in South London.

Closing date: Monday 9 February 2026; interviews to follow.

Note: The successful applicant must have the right to work in the UK.
