Join us on our journey to empower over a million people to change their behaviours and thrive! At Thrive Tribe we deliver award-winning healthy lifestyle and wellbeing programmes that make people happier and healthier. It’s a really exciting time to join us as we continue the growth of the Heathier You NHS Diabetes Prevention Programme (NDPP) throughout South East London and we’re looking for passionate health coaches (or Diabetes Prevention Practitioners) to join us on a sessional contract basis as part of our team!
The purpose of a health coach is to improve lives, through empowering people to make effective long‑term changes that halt or reverse the progression of Type 2 Diabetes. This is achieved through successfully delivering our quality programmes and providing evidence‑based information, supporting individuals to improve their health, lose weight and ultimately lower their risk of developing diabetes.
Like all roles at Thrive Tribe, you can expect your time at work to be fun, varied and challenging. We don’t like to stick to a firm JD as we know from experience that things change throughout the lifetime of a role and it gives our people the chance to play to their strengths.
Typical day as a Health Coach might include:
- Delivering evidence-based group 2‑hour face to face sessions that focus on diet, nutrition, physical activity and behaviour change.
- Facilitating these group sessions in community venues across South London to support Service Users in achieving their goals and cultivating a safe and positive environment.
- Engaging in ongoing training relevant to your role, such as Behaviour Change Level 1 and 2.
- Working towards criteria and targets established within the National Diabetes Prevention Programmes (NDPP) quality assurance framework, including all Clinical Governance procedures.
- Ensuring due consideration and adherence to our internal Thrive Tribe policies, including Information Governance, Safeguarding and Complaints procedures.
- Helping us maintain the ethos of Thrive Tribe by driving our organisational culture forward across our services and using every opportunity to embed our values!
About you… More than anything, we are looking for a team player who puts their heart into their work. We’ve got some core values that run through everything we do, and we’d love it if they resonate with you too!
- Be the change - You like helping people. You’ll be working with those who need help the most, empowering them to make positive changes to thrive.
- Be effective - You’re patient and can adapt under pressure. Always happy to make time for other people, and you have a great attitude.
- Be happy - You recognise the power of a smile. You value a fun, supportive workplace and want to come to work raring to go!
- Be successful - You are motivated and driven. Happy working solo or as part of a team, you love meeting targets. And will be given opportunities to contribute and develop your career.
- Be big-hearted - You want to make a difference. Working with a like‑minded team of optimistic people, you do meaningful work and change lives.
We’re looking for someone who can combine health improvement knowledge with first‑class communication and motivational skills. If you have experience of delivering group‑based interventions, and a real understanding of the impact personal characteristics and circumstances can have on health behaviours then we want to hear from you. Bonus points if you have a qualification in a health promotion related subject, such as nutrition, exercise, or health coaching!
Although not essential, so that we can best support the needs of our clients in London we are particularly keen to hear from applicants who are fluent in Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Urdu, Spanish, and/or British Sign Language for these roles. We hire based on attitude over traditional skills and experience so if you don’t have all of the necessary experience but feel you are right for the job we would love to hear from you!
Due to the nature of this role, we’re looking for someone who is seeking a varied and flexible working pattern including evenings and / or weekend work.
Perks…
- Flexible working – we’re serious about life/work balance.
- Tailored health and wellbeing support.
- Rewards portal offering discounts on shops, restaurants, and days out.
- Access to Mental Health First Aid as well as many other training and development courses!
Contract: Hourly paid, sessional contract. We are looking for someone that would like to take at least 3 sessions per week. Our Diabetes Prevention Programme consists of 13 sessions over a 9‑month period, ordinarily we expect that you will be delivering multiple sessions per month.
Salary: £12.82 - £19.51 per hour.
To apply: Please attach your CV and a covering letter outlining why you are right for the position.
Location: This is a hybrid‑remote role. There is no office base so the role will require some home working, with regular travel across South London. Please only apply if you are based in South London.
Closing date for applications is Monday 9th February 2026 - With interviews to take place soon after. Please note, the successful applicant will be required to have the right to work in the UK.
