We are looking for a Community Smoking Cessation Lead to join us as we begin to deliver two newly awarded Smoking Cessation support services across Hampshire and The Isle of Wight. Our programme is designed to support residents of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight access the support they need to stop smoking through several approaches, including the supply of Nicotine Replacement Therapies (NRT) and appointments with Stop Smoking Advisors.

As the Community Stop Smoking Lead, you will play a pivotal role in the delivery and development of high-quality smoking cessation services across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. This role will provide high-level strategic leadership, expert knowledge, and line management/leadership to a team of community stop smoking advisors to ensure all contractual targets are met. Your team will be responsible for embedding the service across the contract areas, ensuring fantastic relationships are forged within the local communities and primary healthcare settings.

Reporting into the Head of Service, you will offer supportive, empowering leadership to your team, ensuring they provide a gold standard stop smoking service to residents of Hampshire & the Isle of Wight from appropriate community-based locations. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the service delivers evidence-based interventions, maintains high standards of clinical practice, contributes to the ongoing development of the service, whilst meeting its targets.

A typical day as a Community Smoking Lead might include:

  • Leadership and Expertise: Develop an accessible, targeted community-based delivery network; implement and maintain clinical protocols and guidelines; work with partner organisations to maintain client uptake; lead on the implementation of new smoking cessation interventions; conduct clinical audits and reviews.
  • Team Management and Supervision: Provide leadership and supervision to a team of community stop smoking advisors; lead team meetings; foster a positive working environment.
  • Training and Development: Identify training needs; contribute to the development of training materials; support ongoing professional development.
  • Quality and Clinical Governance: Lead on quality improvement initiatives; ensure compliance with clinical governance standards; monitor service performance; investigate complaints and incidents.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Develop effective working relationships with stakeholders; represent the service at meetings; contribute to local smoking cessation strategies.

To work with us in this role, you will have extensive experience in smoking cessation and/or preventative healthcare services. You will have in-depth knowledge of evidence-based smoking cessation interventions and guidelines, with proven experience in providing supervision and leadership. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills are essential. A formal qualification in smoking cessation (e.g. NCSCT Specialist Training) is required but can also be provided to the right candidate.

Contract: Full Time (37.5 hours), Permanent. Salary: Starting at £31,000 with the banding rising to £33,000 per year. Closing Date: The closing date for applications is 6th February 2026.

Location: This role is home-based but will require regular travel throughout Hampshire. Applicants must be car drivers with access to a car. On occasion, travel to the Isle of Wight will also be required.
