We’re looking for a male Child / Teen Weight Management Practitioner to join the Thriving Nottingham team!
Thriving Nottingham is an Integrated Health and Wellbeing Service (IHWS). Our IHWS programme is designed to support individuals and families to improve their health behaviours and make sustainable changes to their lifestyle. The programme consists of five key services:
- Stop smoking support
- Tailored physical activity programmes
- Adult weight management
- Child/family weight management (this is where you come in!)
- Health Coaching
Residents across the City of Nottingham benefit from a variety of our established pathways and products, including Gloji Energy, which provides eligible families a fun and engaging programme to support them to eat healthier, manage their weight, and increase their physical activity levels. The holistic 12-week programme combines both one-to-one appointments and weekly group sessions.
Like all roles at Thrive Tribe, you can expect your time at work to be fun, varied, and challenging. A typical day as a Child / Young Person Weight Management Practitioner might include:
- Delivering evidence-based interventions that cover nutrition, movement, mind, and sleep, with a focus on behaviour change and psychological support.
- Motivating, inspiring, and supporting children, teens, and parents/carers to lose weight and adopt a healthier lifestyle, through a professional, knowledgeable, and empathetic approach.
- Being able to relate and communicate to both children, teens, and their parents/carers, handling sensitive conversations about weight in a professional manner.
- Delivering engaging sessions in schools.
- Ensuring an excellent and safe experience for clients, aligning with our internal policies and procedures.
- Supporting referral generation activities to promote the service including outreach and primary/secondary care liaison.
- Accurately recording and monitoring data, including client progression.
- Working with colleagues across all of our Thrive Tribe services to contribute to new projects and service developments.
- Helping us maintain the ethos of Thrive Tribe by driving our organisational culture forward across our services and using every opportunity to embed our values!

Experience: To work with us in this role you will need to have some experience of supporting individuals, ideally young people, to make healthy lifestyle choices through nutrition, physical activity, or health coaching. A qualification in nutrition, health coaching, fitness instructing, or experience delivering physical activity would be a bonus!

Contract: We have 1 x Part Time (22.5 hours), permanent position available.
Salary: Starting at £22,500 (pro-rata for Part Time position), rising through annual increments up to £24,000. There may also be some opportunity to progress to a Senior Child Weight Management Practitioner and earn up to £28,000.
Closing Date: The closing date for applications is Sunday 12th January 2024. Applicants will be contacted to outline the next stages of the process. Interviews are likely to take place on 21st January 2024 and will be in person, in Nottingham.
Location: This job is based in Nottingham. The role will require travelling across the city, so a car owner is preferred.
