Are you an Estimator or Junior Estimator working in the Facilities Management or Engineering Maintenance Sector and looking for development into an Estimator role? This is a new exciting role working for a large national service provider to the commercial maintenance industry.
This role is working out of the Bristol office with 3 days per week office based and 2 days WFH. You will work on predominantly Mechanical and Electrical FM, Maintenance and small works projects across the business.
Role Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with excellent attention to detail to join our Business Development function as a Bid Estimator. The successful candidate will oversee and deliver estimating/costing for new tenders within the Facilities Management/Building Services sector, specialising in Mechanical, Electrical and Fabric works.
We are looking for a candidate with passion, drive and looking to develop their wider Business Development skills in support of the wider business objectives. They will be required to present to members of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) on a frequent basis as part of the bid governance process, and present as part of the wider BD team to prospective clients as part of the sales process as and when required.
The candidate will work in a fast-paced environment, costing large scale tender returns alongside the wider Business Development team. They will be supported by the Business Development Manager and a Senior Estimator on a day-to-day basis, ensuring they understand and develop skills to work within the pricing models utilised.
Key Tasks
- Analyse ITT documentation, asset lists, specifications and visit sites to assess works.
- Preparing accurate costs for materials, labour and services to prepare competitive and compliant submissions for tenders. These values will generally range from £250k to £4-5mil per annum, and will cover Mechanical, Electrical, Fabric and specialist Hard FM services.
- Liaise with suppliers and sub-contractors to achieve the best 'value for money' for parts, materials and labour to tender return.
- Interpreting customer specifications, ITTs and asset lists. Identifying items within scope and out of scope, to ensure competitive bids are submitted.
- Advanced level of IT skills, in particular with Microsoft Excel, and ability to pick up internal works management systems.
- Participate in regular team meetings to discuss ongoing projects and business strategies.
- Assist the BDM in wider bid preparation works, including attending sales meetings, inputting to quality/narrative components.
- Liaise and work alongside wider key stakeholders within the business including in particular: CEO, Operations Director, Finance Director, Operations Managers and Accountants.
The estimator planner, engineering estimator, planner role would suit candidates who are currently involved or working closely with people in planning or estimating from a M&E, FM or maintenance environment.
Excellent attention to detail, in particular with numbers/costs with ability to work consistently and proactively. Knowledge of regulations and guidance for Hard Services maintenance, and recognised best practice methodologies such as SFG20. Able to work on their own initiative but in a team environment with colleagues, interacting with all team members. Keen to develop and hone their Business Development skills, including attending client meetings and assisting with the wider elements of tender proposals. Knowledge of health and safety regulations and best practices.
