I am currently supporting a client with their recruitment for a Clerk of Works to join their team on a full-time, hybrid basis. This role will be based out of their Bristol office with travel to sites nationwide.
This is a key position within the business, acting as the company's eyes and ears on-site, ensuring projects are delivered to the highest standards of quality, compliance, and client expectations across refurbishment and fit-out projects.
The Role:
- Carrying out site inspections to ensure compliance with designs and regulations
- Monitoring quality of workmanship and materials
- Identifying defects and ensuring corrective actions are taken
- Supporting pre-construction planning and quality processes
- Liaising with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams
- Managing site reports, documentation, and project handovers
Pre-Construction Duties:
- Reviewing drawings, specifications, and project documentation
- Supporting with quality planning and establishing inspection/test plans
- Identifying risks and ensuring mitigation strategies are in place
- Providing input on design to ensure buildability and compliance
- Assisting with regulatory submissions including Building Control and Gateway applications
Post-Construction:
- Carrying out final inspections and ensuring works meet required standards
- Supporting snagging and ensuring completion to a high standard
- Assisting with O&M manuals and regulatory submissions
- Contributing to project reviews and continuous improvement
Requirements:
- Experience within construction quality assurance or Clerk of Works role
- Strong knowledge of UK building regulations
- Background in fit-out or refurbishment projects (desirable)
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
