We are seeking two values-driven and dynamic Non-Executive Directors (NEDs) with experience at a senior level to join our Board.
Time Commitment: 12-15 days per annum
NED fees: £17,500 per annum

Thrive Renewables connects people to sustainable energy. We have been building and operating renewable energy projects in the UK for over 30 years. We offer accessible opportunities for individuals and businesses to take a meaningful stake in the UK’s clean energy transition. We have funded or built 48 renewable energy projects with a total capacity of 370MW. We currently own or have funded a portfolio of 37 operational, construction and development clean energy projects including onshore wind, hydro, solar, battery storage, geothermal and heat; assets under management in 2025 were £115 million. Thrive is in the process of doubling our generation capacity by 2028.
A small, passionate, dynamic team, based in Bristol, we have been actively crowdfunding and promoting sustainable energy since 1994. Role description: The NEDs will join an established, effective board consisting of three executive directors and seven non-executive directors which meets at least quarterly. We are seeking two new NEDs, one to focus on impact and ethical entrepreneurship, and the other with a wealth of Board, corporate and commercial experience, who share our vision and values and have the experience, insight and dynamic approach needed to facilitate our ambitious growth plans.
Responsibilities:
- Provide independent oversight and constructive challenge to the Board and executive team, ensuring alignment with Thrive Renewables mission, values, and strategic objectives.
- Attend Board meetings and contribute expertise and insights to board discussions on matters such as strategic planning, financial management, risk mitigation, and performance.
- Engage with investors and the relevant business sectors, acting as an ambassador for the business.
- Uphold the highest standards of corporate governance, ethics, and integrity, fostering a culture of transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Offer support in mentoring and developing the team.
Additionally:
- Entrepreneurial ethical and impact focussed NED: Experience of working with high impact businesses in growth phase. Leverage your strong network with and/or knowledge of impact funds investing in the renewable energy and impact sectors. Experience of creating strong stakeholder engagement. A focus on delivering for a wide group of stakeholders for the long term. With your experience in impactful strategy and product development, provide counsel and insight to the board and senior management team.
- Experienced NED with strong corporate, commercial and finance experience: Leverage your strong network in the investment and energy sectors to support Thrive’s ambitious growth plans. Provide insight, expertise and practical support in raising capital for growth. Bring experience of high growth or scaling organisations, with an understanding of operational, financial and cultural challenges that accompany rapid growth. Experience of corporate structures listed companies and/or funds. Strong commercial acumen, with experience of delivering commercial efficiency. Strong financial experience – it is expected that you will join the Audit Committee. Governance expertise, with a clear grasp of Board responsibilities, risk management and stakeholder accountability. With your experience in strategy and product development, provide counsel and insight to the board and senior management team.
Skills/experience required: Our ideal candidates will have a background of high growth phase companies or funds. They will have previous NED experience or be demonstrably ready to step into their first board role. The most important thing is what they will bring to the business. We are looking for people who:
