A specialist educational provision in Exeter is seeking an enthusiastic and resilient Outdoor Education Teaching Assistant to support pupils through hands-on, practical, and nature-based learning experiences. The Role

  • Support pupils during outdoor and experiential learning activities
  • Provide 1:1 and small group support, particularly for learners with additional needs
  • Help deliver engaging, practical sessions that build confidence and resilience
  • Encourage teamwork, independence, and emotional regulation
  • Support positive behaviour strategies in active environments
  • Assist with preparing resources and ensuring outdoor activities are safe and inclusive
  • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions

You’ll play a key role in helping young people re-engage with education through meaningful, real-world learning experiences.

About You

  • Has experience working with children or young people (education, care, youth work, outdoor settings)
  • Is confident, calm, and adaptable
  • Has a genuine passion for outdoor learning and active education
  • Is resilient and able to manage behaviour positively
  • Works well independently and as part of a team
  • Is physically active and comfortable working outdoors year-round
  • Holds an Enhanced DBS (or is willing to obtain one)

Experience supporting pupils with SEN, SEMH, or additional needs is highly desirable.
