Thrive Personnel Ltd are looking to recruit an experienced Yard Operative with FLT licence to join our client based in Morley Leeds. This role involves work both on and off the FLT Truck and will involve manual labour. This is a permanent role working days 8am - 4.30pm.
Job Purpose
The Yard Operative is responsible for the safe and efficient movement, storage, and organisation of goods within the yard area. This role requires a valid FLT licence and involves operating forklift trucks, maintaining yard safety standards, and supporting general yard and warehouse operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate forklift trucks (counterbalance / reach / other as required) safely and in line with company procedures
- Load and unload vehicles, ensuring goods are handled correctly and securely
- Move, stack, and store materials within designated yard areas
- Carry out daily FLT checks and report any defects or maintenance issues
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe yard environment at all times
- Assist with stock control, including checking deliveries and dispatches
- Follow all health & safety regulations and site rules
- Support other yard and warehouse duties as required
- Communicate effectively with drivers, colleagues, and supervisors
Skills & Experience Required
Essential:
- Valid FLT licence (RTITB / ITSSAR or equivalent)
- Previous experience working in a yard, warehouse, or industrial environment
- Good awareness of health & safety practices
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Physically fit and able to carry out manual handling tasks
Desirable:
- Experience with multiple FLT types
- Basic knowledge of stock control systems
- Experience working outdoors in all weather conditions
