About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Accountant with strong payroll expertise to join a well-established organisation based in Beckton, East London.
This is a hands-on, full-time position responsible for managing key accounting functions while overseeing accurate and compliant payroll processing for both weekly and monthly staff.
The ideal candidate will have solid experience in financial accounting, reconciliations, and payroll operations, with a keen eye for detail and a proactive, organised approach.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset ledger and nominal ledger.
* Prepare and post journals, accruals, and prepayments.
* Complete bank reconciliations and support the production of monthly management information.
* Run and manage weekly and monthly payrolls accurately and on time.
* Submit RTI and pension contributions and ensure statutory compliance (P60s, P11Ds, etc.).
* Manage new starters, leavers, and employee changes.
* Process salary sacrifice schemes and company car taxation.
* Handle staff payroll queries and liaise with HMRC when required.
* Support with the preparation of annual accounts and audits.
* Assist the finance team and management with ad hoc reporting and projects.
About You
We’re looking for someone who can balance precision with efficiency — a finance professional who enjoys variety and takes ownership of their work.
Essential Skills and Experience:
* AAT part-qualified or equivalent accounting qualification.
* Proven experience in both accounting and end-to-end payroll.
* In-depth knowledge of UK payroll legislation, RTI, and auto-enrolment.
* Strong numeracy, accuracy, and attention to detail.
* Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, formulas, and macros).
* Excellent organisational and communication skills.
* Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
* Experience with benefits in kind and salary sacrifice schemes is desirable.
