Rent Collection Assistant

Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire (Hybrid Working)

£29,785.02 per annum + benefits

Temporary, 7 Months Fixed Term (until end of February 2026)

Full Time 37 hours per week

We\’re seeking an Income Protection Assistant to join our busy and supportive team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail, process accuracy, and customer communication are key.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Process and post payments including Housing Benefit and Universal Credit files
  2. Reconcile income and liaise with the Finance team on adjustments
  3. Manage Direct Debit processes, including setup and adjustments
  4. Verify rent changes and Universal Credit claims using the Landlord Portal
  5. Assist with initial arrears contact, including former tenant arrears, recharges, and sundry debts, and monitor account anomalies
  6. Order and dispatch rent payment cards
  7. Liaise with Local Authorities and the DWP on benefit-related payments
  8. Respond to customer and partner enquiries accurately and professionally
  9. Support the annual rent change process
  10. Provide support across the wider income protection team and other departments as needed

  5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  6. Knowledge of the housing sector and welfare benefits would be beneficial
