Thrive Group Bolton is seeking an experienced candidate to work for our client based in the Middleton area, assisting with plant production at the nursery.
Responsibilities
- Propagate and produce plant material under glass and in open ground using seed and asexual methods.
- Control pests and diseases using both natural and chemical methods as appropriate.
- Maintain accurate stock records, including receipt of new outsourced stock and records of dispatched items.
- Carry out interior landscaping and floral displays as directed.
- Care for and correctly identify trees, shrubs, and herbaceous borders, including pruning, soil cultivation, and aftercare.
- Advise Environmental Management staff on plant suitability and assist with the design of floral bedding and other soft landscape features.
- Use and maintain nursery equipment as required.
- Ensure all tasks are carried out in accordance with Corporate and Service Policies and report any incidents that may cause harm or injury.
- Assist members of the public visiting the nursery in a courteous and helpful manner.
- Carry out additional horticultural duties as required, including preparation and planting of bedding displays, carpet bedding, and the provision and maintenance of planters and hanging baskets across the borough.
- Drive vehicles when required, including carrying out vehicle checks, cleaning, transporting goods and personnel, and ensuring correct loading and unloading of materials in compliance with weight limits.
Working Hours & Conditions
Working hours are Monday to Thursday 08:00 - 16:00 and Friday 08:00 - 12:00 - 32 hours per week. Flexibility is required in this role, as you will be required to work 1 weekend every 4 weeks.
Pay
Pay rate starting at £13.99 per hour.
