Thrive Oldham are delighted to be working with our client in the Leicestershire area, who are actively looking to recruit a Landscape Operative. The position is Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week.

Key Job Activities:

  • To ensure landscaping and grounds maintenance duties are completed to required standards and timescales.
  • To ensure personal compliance with Health and Safety, COSHH and other regulations.
  • To encourage greater use of parks by helping to provide quality features.
  • To ensure the council's standards of customer service are achieved.
  • Undertake construction and development work including hard and soft landscape projects in accordance with client's drawings and specifications.
  • Construct, develop and maintain outdoor sports areas including natural and artificial surfaces in accordance with clients' drawings and specifications.
  • Ensure all works are carried out within predetermined timescales and cost.
  • Assist in the maintenance and planting of trees and shrubs on highways and open spaces.
  • Assist in the application of chemicals in accordance with the Pesticides Regulations Act.

Key Job Outcomes:

  • To produce an acceptable standard of workmanship on routine activities.
  • To ensure personal compliance with Health and Safety, COSHH and other regulations.
  • To encourage greater use of parks by helping to provide quality features.
  • To ensure the council's standards of customer service are achieved.

Experience in landscape construction or the construction industry is required. Construction related qualifications such as NVQ 1 or City and Guilds are desirable. Skills required include:

  • Operating construction machinery.
  • Landscaping skills such as planting shrubs, turf laying, concrete mixing.
  • Use of hand tools for construction.
  • Reading site plans and drawings.
  • Working as part of a team.

A full clean driving licence is desirable. Candidates should be prepared to undertake job-related training.
