Thrive looks and feels like a coffee shop but it is a dedicated safe space for care leavers and young people furthest from the job market to meet with the adults who care for them including support workers and social workers.

Thrive partners with employers and organisations across the Liverpool City Region to ensure young people can access the wrap around support they need to live happy, safe and fulfilling lives.

Young people aged 18 to 24 can choose to attend Thrive as an alternative to their local jobcentre receiving 1:2:1 intensive employability support from our dedicated team.

  • Provide a safe, warm and welcoming environment where care leavers can meet with the adults who care for them
  • Connect young people with the organisations and services need for them to live happy, safe and fulfilling lives
  • Provide 1:2:1 intensive employability support
  • Provide information about careers for young people aged 16 to 24 in receipt of Universal Credit and or in the care system
  • Build relationships across the City Region to ensure young people attending Thrive have access to services and opportunities

The Role

Thrive is seeking a front of house youth host. The role is a blended role that involves maintaining the coffee shop, welcoming young people into the space and helping the team in meeting the organisations wider objectives.

Coffee shop youth host duties include welcoming visitors, completing sign in and monitoring forms, providing refreshments and keeping coffee shop area clean, including the cleaning of coffee machine, cups etc.

Other duties include supporting the team with Thrive inductions, providing digital support to 16 to 17 yr olds by helping them to navigate the internet to research topics related to their educational or job goals and supporting the team with social media posts. Duties also include answering the phone and assisting with appointment management.

Wage: Real Living Wage (£13.45 per hour)

Location: Liverpool City Centre

  • Must be passionate about helping young people reach their full potential
  • Must be computer literate and able to use Microsoft applications and social media platforms
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills including verbal, listening, written and non‑verbal
  • Must be highly organised
  • Must be committed to being part of a small team, listening to ideas and feedback and acting on these where relevant
  • Have the ability to manage your own time independently
  • Be willing to undertake learning and development
  • Must be comfortable answering phone calls and arranging appointments
