About Thriva
At Thriva, weâre on a mission to close the gap between lifespan and healthspan. While people are living longer, theyâre also spending more years in poor health. We help people live better now, and for longer with proactive, atâhome blood testing, connected wearables, doctorâreviewed results, and personalised actions backed by evidence. Weâre entering an exciting phase of product evolution. Our app has grown significantly over time and now supports hundreds of thousands of people with rich health data, clinical insight, and personalised guidance.
This role is about crafting an interface that reflects Thriva as a cuttingâedge, clinically credible health data company, while supporting realâworld behaviour change and longâterm wellbeingâwithout falling into the trap of addictive or attentionâextractive design, and staying human!
The Role
Weâre building a firstâofâitsâkind proactive health app, combining deep clinical insight with humanâcentred design, conversational coaching, and increasingly sophisticated data insight. As Senior UI Designer, youâll play a pivotal role in shaping how this experience looks, feels, and behaves.
By the time you join, weâll have begun evolving our brand, marketing site, and app with creative UI input. Youâll collaborate closely with those creatives, alongside our product team and existing Product Designer, to extend and systemise this visual language within the appâensuring it scales across complex health data, insights, actions, and coaching experiences.
This is a highly handsâon role for someone who cares deeply about craft, detail, and coherence. Youâll help ensure Thriva feels like a trusted companion in someoneâs health journey: supportive, clear, and motivating, showing up regularly in peopleâs lives in a way that encourages healthy action in the real world.
Weâre a purposefully lean team. Our CTO Founder writes code, our Product Director runs user interviews, and designers are deeply embedded in product thinking. Weâre looking for someone comfortable operating at both the strategic and the pixelâperfect level who thrives in this oneâteam culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the evolution of Thrivaâs inâproduct UI, bringing clarity, warmth, and dataâbacked authority to a complex, dataârich experience.
- Ensure the app feels coherent, premium, and trusted across all touchpoints.
- Translate clinical insights, health metrics, trends, and recommendations into intuitive, calm, and engaging UI.
- Support users in navigating rich data and personalised insights without overwhelm.
- Partner with our UX designer to create experiences that encourage healthy action, habitâbuilding, and reflection.
- Balance engagement with restraint, avoiding dark patterns or addictive mechanics in favour of meaningful, realâworld impact.
- Work closely with our Product Designer on flows, UX intent, and interaction patterns.
- Partner with engineers to ensure highâquality implementation and polished interactions.
- Collaborate with clinicians, data experts, and content teams to reflect accuracy, credibility, and care in the UI.
- Align with brand and marketing creatives to extend and evolve Thrivaâs visual identity into product.
- Create and refine UI components, patterns, and guidelines in Figma.
- Contribute to a design system that supports speed, consistency, and ongoing iteration.
- Work closely with frontâend engineers on the design and implementation of shared UI components, contributing to a scalable component library (e.g. via Storybook or similar), and ensuring designs translate cleanly into production.
- Participate in user testing and product reviews to understand how visual design impacts comprehension, trust, and behaviour.
- Iterate based on evidence, while applying strong design judgement and taste.
About You
- You have 5+ years of experience designing interfaces for digital products, in complex or dataârich domains.
- You have exceptional visual and interaction design skills, with a portfolio that shows polish, restraint, and thoughtful decisionâmaking.
- Youâre fluent in Figma, comfortable building and evolving component systems, and obsessed with detail.
- You understand how design influences behaviour and care about doing this ethically and responsibly to create health impact.
- You enjoy collaborating with UX designers, engineers, clinicians, and nonâdesigners to arrive at the best outcome.
- Youâre comfortable working independently in a fastâmoving startup environment, bringing structure to ambiguity.
- Youâre motivated by meaningful work, particularly in health, wellbeing, and longâterm impact.
- Youâre humble, curious, and happy to get stuck into both strategic thinking and handsâon UI refinement.
Why Join Thriva?
- Help shape the future of proactive, preventative health.
- Play a defining role in evolving a product used by hundreds of thousands of people.
