Thringstone Primary School is seeking an Assistant Headteacher to join our leadership team and help shape the next stage of the school’s development. This is a class-based leadership role for a strong, reflective teacher who wants to make a wider difference across the school while remaining firmly rooted in classroom practice. You will work closely with the Headteacher and Key Stage Leaders, supporting the day-to-day running of the school and leading agreed areas linked to teaching, behaviour and whole-school culture.

The role

This role is suitable for experienced teachers ready to step into senior leadership, as well as those with existing leadership experience. As Assistant Headteacher, you will:

  • Teach a class and model consistently strong, inclusive classroom practice.
  • Work alongside the Headteacher and Key Stage Leaders to support the smooth, day-to-day running of the school.
  • Lead agreed operational areas linked to teaching, learning, behaviour or organisation.
  • Support staff and children with behaviour and pastoral needs, helping to maintain a calm, consistent and positive school culture.
  • Have delegated responsibility to act on behalf of the Headteacher in agreed operational matters.
  • Have regular release time to carry out leadership responsibilities effectively.

  • Is a confident, reflective classroom teacher with high expectations.
  • Has leadership experience and is keen to develop this further.
  • Believes in fairness, consistency and inclusive practice.
  • Is calm, approachable and solution-focused.
  • Has a secure understanding of safeguarding and is willing to undertake the role of Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead.
  • Shares our values and is committed to supporting every child to succeed.
