About the role
We're seeking an Associate or Senior Associate to join the Agricultural Property team in our Romsey office. This role offers a wonderful opportunity to join an inclusive, friendly and established team, working exclusively with Landowner clients, mostly on development projects. We're extremely proud of the relationship we have with our clients and referrers and are seen as their trusted legal partner so it's important to us we find someone with the right blend of skills to help maintain this and develop business/bring on new clients.
Working in an open and collaborative manner, the team is commercial and pragmatic and prides itself on its strong relationships with clients, referrers and colleagues. It benefits from support from other lawyers within the firm such as in private property, corporate commercial and the specialist construction, property litigation and planning teams. The role would suit an ambitious Solicitor or Legal Executive joining an established and growing team.
Supporting, supervising and managing more junior members of the team whilst being able to work to support the Partners, you will have a varied caseload acting for landowner clients, including work such as:
- Strategic land development
- Renewable energy
- Large development projects for landowners
- Sale and purchase of agricultural property and land
Day to day, you will have a varied caseload, including:
- Maintaining first class service to clients through technical ability, strong relationships and effective handling of client files, under supervision as appropriate
- Providing high quality commercial advice to clients in accordance with technical area of specialism
- Building strong working relationships with the direct team, the wider team and office teams
- Supporting, supervising and managing more junior members of the team whilst being able to work to support the Partners and Legal Directors
- Providing proactive and constructive input into the team's strategy and taking the initiative when necessary
- Participating in business development activities and sector initiatives to assist in obtaining new clients
- Being responsible for achieving all forms of continuous professional development.
Whilst this role is based in our Romsey office, there will be the opportunity for you to work with other fee earners based at our other offices.
About you
We're extremely proud of the relationship we've built with our clients and referrers, being recognised as their trusted legal partner. It's important to us that you have the right blend of skills to service their needs and develop new relationships. You’ll work autonomously as well as part of a team to deliver exceptional client service:
- An experienced Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive, ideally holding 3+PQE within commercial property
- Experienced in 'development of land' or 'strategic land' work, ideally for landowner clients
- Strong organisation skills with the ability to work at pace and deliver to multiple deadlines
- An effective negotiator including a high degree of commercial pragmatism
- A team player, who enjoys supporting more junior colleagues, providing supervision when required
- Experience working on clean energy matters would be highly desirable
- Strong relationship management skills, and client focused, with the ability to build new relationships to support the growth of the practice and firm.
