We are looking for a Natural Capital Solicitor to join the Planning and Environment team in our Ross-on-Wye, Lydney or Bristol office. This is a newly created role, in a fascinating and fast-growing area of law, working with developers and landowners on environmental improvements and land regeneration. This is a perfect opportunity for an experienced solicitor with a strong interest in this area of law.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Advising developers and landowners on matters such as natural capital, biodiversity enhancements and environmental improvements.
  • Providing a first-class service to clients through effective handling of client files.
  • Drafting and negotiating legal documents.
  • Keeping up with environmental legislation such as Climate Change Act or Conservation of Habitats and Species Regulations.
  • Providing a proactive and constructive input into the team’s strategy, and assist with developing further the firm’s understanding and knowledge of the natural capital sector.

What we are looking for:

  • Previous experience in a similar role (Natural Capital/Environmental Solicitor) or a genuine interest in this emerging area of law.
  • Dexterity in legal practice as our work encompasses both advisory and transactional elements.
  • Exceptional work ethic, a positive ‘can-do’ attitude.
  • Ability to meet deadlines under pressure when faced with several projects at a time.
  • Good business acumen and commercial awareness.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.

Location and working hours:

This is a hybrid role, and you can be based in our Ross-on-Wye, Lydney or Bristol office. There will be the opportunity for you to work with other fee earners within the team based at our other offices. It’s a full-time position, 35 hours per week. We will consider applications from candidates looking for part-time positions.
