Technical Design Authority – Infrastructure is a senior technical role within the technology function, accountable for design, delivery, and optimisation of the Telco Cloud solutions. This role ensures that mission‑critical systems remain robust, future‑ready, and aligned with the organisation’s strategic and operational goals. The position is responsible for the end‑to‑end lifecycle of technology used to provide services within the domain, with a continuous focus on capacity management and system optimisation to enhance reliability, efficiency, and cost‑effectiveness.

Provide technical leadership to the Design community spanning strategy to implementation and interfacing with various internal and external teams to ensure technology meets customer needs and regulatory requirements. Collaborate and help direct key development partners and internal teams to deliver new and enhance existing strategic systems capability. Act as a subject‑matter and technical expert in a specific technological capability. Collaborate with partners to produce clear low/high level designs and a development plan, driving development using best‑practice knowledge and focusing on development quality and functional capability delivery.

Drive effective partner management, ensuring delivery standards are defined, maintained and continuously improved. Act as a point of contact to support resolution for issues relating to defects, escalating as appropriate, assuring RCA, appropriate testing and continuous improvement to enable effective resolution and future avoidance. Provide active guidance to partners to support capability maturity, evolving with technology and industry trends, applying appropriate measures for continuous improvement. Manage development performance in line with the domain’s strategic, critical development metrics (KPIs).

Qualifications

  • Demonstrable experience of providing technical, decision‑making and problem‑solving leadership for a domain, setting quality standards for delivery and design.
  • Ability to communicate with multiple stakeholders within the organization and act as a liaison between business, other technical communities and third‑party delivery teams to ensure the delivery of business requirements, including converting business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Knowledge and experience of all aspects of development with a good understanding of software development practices, processes and tooling to support large‑scale enterprise solutions.
  • Experience with both manual and automated tooling enabling rapid development and delivery of software.
  • Experience working with a range of infrastructure technologies, software delivery and programme delivery methodologies – for example, Cloud (Microsoft Azure, AWS, Google), on‑premise NVFI and CNF, and SaaS, PaaS models.
