As an Associate Accountant within the Retail Property team, you’ll play a key role in managing and accounting for property costs across Three’s retail estate of more than 300 stores. Working as part of a collaborative financial accounting team, you’ll support the delivery of accurate monthly reporting, balance sheet reconciliations and financial analysis linked to retail property and lease accounting activities. You’ll work closely with both internal stakeholders and outsourced service providers to investigate variances, improve processes and ensure accounting records remain accurate and compliant. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to develop their accounting experience in a large, fast-paced organisation with exposure to IFRS 16 reporting and cross‑functional stakeholder management.
- Support the month‑end accounting process for retail property costs across the UK retail estate
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, identifying and resolving variances
- Work closely with outsourced payment providers to investigate accounting queries and agree corrective actions
- Support financial reporting activities related to lease accounting under IFRS 16 and IAS 17
- Analyse financial data and provide insights to support commercial finance and operational teams
- Build strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, including budget holders and finance colleagues
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance accounting accuracy and process efficiency
- Support audit requests and assist with ad‑hoc finance projects as required
Qualifications
Who you are:
- Experience working within an accounting or financial reporting environment
- Strong Excel and analytical skills, with confidence working with large data sets
- Comfortable investigating financial variances and resolving issues collaboratively
- Clear communicator who can build effective relationships with both finance and non‑finance stakeholders
- Organised and detail‑focused, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Degree qualified or equivalent experience within finance, accounting or a related discipline
- Studying towards or holding a relevant financial qualification would be advantageous
