We are now looking for a Housing Options Officer to join us on a full-time, permanent basis, working 37 hours per week. The Role As a Housing Options Officer, you will provide comprehensive housing advice and assistance to customers, helping to prevent and relieve homelessness. Specifically, you will work proactively to deliver housing solutions, including debt advice, negotiating with landlords, and accessing the private rented sector, while supporting customers to apply for housing services and liaising with external agencies to address individual housing needs. You will also be responsible for managing complex caseloads, writing detailed decision letters, and ensuring compliance with the Homelessness Reduction Act. Furthermore, you will contribute to safeguarding efforts, attend court when necessary, and maintain accurate records to support statutory compliance. Additionally, you will: – Work closely with internal departments and external agencies to provide integrated services – Attend rough sleeper sightings to provide support and guidance – Manage housing register applications and temporary accommodation allocations – Represent the department at multi-agency meetings and case conferences – Stay up to date with housing legislation, case law, and best practices About You To be considered as a Housing Options Officer, you will need: – Experience of working in a customer service and/or housing environment – Experience of managing caseloads requiring detailed investigations – Knowledge of equal opportunity issues and their practical application – The ability to work independently and as part of a team, adapting to changing priorities – A commitment to delivering high-quality services with attention to detail – A GCSE standard education (or equivalent) including English and Maths – A current driving licence and access to transport A basic DBS / Enhanced DBS check will be carried out for this post.
