The role
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Finance Manager plays a key role in contributing to the firm’s financial controls, performance and growth.
This is a varied role offering the opportunity to contribute to firm-wide projects, process improvements and strategic initiatives across an internationally recognised law firm.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to
- Management accounting and reporting
- Responsibility for preparation of monthly management accounts.
- Preparation of monthly accrual and prepayments.
- Maintain balance sheet monthly reconciliation processes and fixed asset register.
- Ensure integrity of financial data during the monthly close process.
- Financial Reporting
- Assisting with the preparation of statutory financial statements under UK and international GAAP.
- Liaising with auditors and other advisors across all of the jurisdictions that the firm operates in.
- Support the annual budget and quarterly forecasting processes for the firm.
- Responsibility for firm-wide cost reporting including supporting Business Services heads in analysing budget vs actual performance.
- Taxation and Compliance
- Support the preparation of multi-jurisdictional tax accounts and analysis.
- Prepare and support indirect tax return and reporting processes across all jurisdictions.
- Liaising with external advisors on ad hoc projects such as tax audits, office expansions and queries on firm or partner tax affairs.
- Treasury Management
- Prepare and review monthly cash flow forecasts.
- Assist the Financial Controller in ensuring adequate funding is in place and excess cash can be moved where appropriate.
- Partner accounting
- Assisting with partner profit calculations and distributions.
- Support the Financial Controller with partner equity capital including liaising with banks that provide external funding.
- Payroll
- Responsibility for payroll activities across all jurisdictions.
- Prepare the annual PSA return.
- Supporting the HR team on a variety of topics that impact payroll.
- Ad hoc projects
The Finance Manager will also be a key contributor to a wide range of ad hoc projects across offices and business services departments.
Skills and knowledge
Competitive candidates will possess the following
- A qualification as an Accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent).
- Experience of working in an international and multi-currency environment.
- An understanding of LLP accounting and economics.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Strong understanding and experience of Practice Management Systems (ideally Aderant).
- A reliable, adaptable and flexible approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities and consistently meet deadlines.
- Excellent attention to detail, sound judgement and a practical, hands‑on approach to problem‑solving.
- Excellent Excel skills and a good understanding of accounting software principles.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient at analysing financial and operational data and preparing analysis for executive consumption.
