The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and compliant operation of client and office accounts, working closely with colleagues across the organisation and supporting the delivery of an efficient cashiering function.

Job

The role of Legal Cashier will give you the opportunity to be involved with:

  • Processing and allocating client and office account receipts
  • Reviewing and setting up electronic payments including CHAPS, BACS, Faster Payments and international transfers
  • Ensuring compliance with Anti-Money Laundering procedures prior to payment processing
  • Managing client and office account transactions including payments, receipts, transfers and bill settlements
  • Administering designated client bank accounts and related transactions
  • Reviewing cheque requests and ensuring compliance with internal authorisation procedures
  • Investigating and resolving reconciliation discrepancies and outstanding items
  • Supporting daily bank reconciliations and maintaining accurate financial records
  • Working closely with partners, fee earners and operational teams on client and firm transactions
  • Processing banking activities including cash and cheque deposits
  • Calculating and processing client account interest where required
  • Maintaining accurate electronic records for audit and regulatory purposes
  • Supporting annual audit processes
  • Contributing to process improvements and maintaining procedural documentation
  • Assisting with ad hoc finance and cashiering duties as required
You

As a Legal Cashier, you will ideally possess the following:

  • Previous experience in a Legal Cashier or Cashroom role
  • Strong understanding of client and office account transactions
  • Knowledge of legal accounting regulations and compliance requirements
  • Experience processing high-volume financial transactions accurately
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accuracy
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to investigate and resolve financial discrepancies
  • Comfortable working with financial systems and banking platforms
  • Strong communication skills and confidence liaising with stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a busy environment
  • Team-oriented approach with a willingness to support colleagues
