Job
As Finance Assistant, you will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial operations across payroll, ledgers and payments. Responsibilities include:
- Preparing and submitting VAT returns
- Running the full monthly payroll including NIC, PAYE, pension contributions, expenses and shift allowances
- Managing online banking and processing outgoing payments
- Preparing and processing monthly supplier payments
- Managing both sales and purchase ledgers
- Matching purchase orders to supplier invoices
- Delivering two payment runs per month
- Processing between 10–20 line items at the start of the month, rising to around 100 at month end
- Completing monthly bank reconciliations
- Monitoring and checking client payments
- Preparing accounts to trial balance
- Supporting the external accountant with quarterly and year‑end accounts
- Working closely with office administrators to ensure accurate invoice and PO processing
You
You will be a detail‑driven finance professional who enjoys being part of a small, collaborative team. You will bring:
- Experience across purchase ledger, payroll and payment processing
- Understanding of VAT returns and accounts preparation
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate and timely payments
- Sage 200 and Sage Payroll experience
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and online banking
- Confidence using financial and payroll software
- A proactive, supportive approach to working with colleagues
