ThreadPoint is an infrastructure literacy organisation based in Hackney. We help children, families and communities understand the systems shaping modern life from data centres to energy and connectivity through storytelling, hands-on building and digital experiences. Our sessions are creative, interactive and genuinely fun. We work across schools, libraries, community spaces and with industry partners.

We are growing and building a team of facilitators who are curious, adaptable and great with people.

The Role

  • Lead Facilitator: You lead the session. You hold the room, guide the story and deliver the full experience with confidence and warmth.
  • Assistant Facilitator: You support the session. You help participants, keep energy flowing and make sure no one gets left behind.

You can apply for one or both.

Where You’ll Deliver

  • Community sessions: Libraries and community venues, mixed-age groups, including children and adults, 3 hours total, including set-up, session and pack-down, usually evenings and weekends.
  • School sessions: Primary schools, ages 5-12, full day delivery, usually 8:30am-4:00pm.

Hands-on, story-led workshops.

A Note on Digital

Alongside LEGO-based sessions, we’re developing digital workshops using Roblox and Minecraft Education. You don’t need to be an expert, but you should be:

  • comfortable using digital tools
  • willing to learn
  • confident supporting children in a screen-based environment

Training is provided.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead Facilitator: Deliver full workshops independently, read and bring our storybook to life, guide hands-on activities, manage group dynamics, represent ThreadPoint professionally.
  • Assistant Facilitator: Support delivery throughout, help participants during activities, encourage quieter learners, assist with set-up and pack-down.

Both roles: Safeguard all participants, work reliably and professionally, submit timesheets promptly.

Pay Rate

  • Community sessions: Lead: £20/hour, usually £60 per session; Assistant: £15/hour, usually £45 per session.
  • School days: Lead: £150 per day; Assistant: £120 per day.

Onboarding: Paid induction: £15.

You’ll Be Great If You

  • Enjoy working with people of all ages
  • Are reliable and punctual
  • Can adapt to different environments
  • Are curious and open to learning
  • Have, or are willing to get, an Enhanced DBS
  • Have the right to work in the UK

For Lead roles

  • Confident running a session independently
  • Experience in education, facilitation, youth work or community work
  • Desirable, Not Essential: SEND experience, STEM or built environment background, Roblox or Minecraft familiarity, storytelling or performance skills.

Safeguarding: This role is subject to Enhanced DBS checks, two references and safer recruitment processes. Safeguarding is central to everything we do.

We look forward to your joining us. Imagination is Infrastructure.
