As a Retail Technology Consultant, you will be a technology leader for our Retail industry practice across Europe. You will apply Thoughtworks\’ software engineering expertise for the benefit of current and potential clients, and bring back insights from our retail experience to shape Thoughtworks offerings and strategies. You\’ll achieve this by keeping close tabs on Retail industry trends, paying attention to the range of conversations and offerings within Thoughtworks, selectively taking on advisory work for key clients and forming your own point of view. Your daily work will involve interacting with a wide range of professionals- from commercial folks, to technical leaders, to marketing experts, to business and technology leaders at our clients. You will be a key contributor to our pre-sales team as well as engage with existing customers. Your role will be to have authentic technology conversations with clients, interpret their needs and figure out a good way for Thoughtworks to address them. That means you need to understand technology in a broad sense, from architecture through to structuring delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Provide industry and technology expertise in early sales conversations and form an initial perspective that shapes our pursuit in existing and new clients
  • Act as an engagement sponsor for key Retail clients, supporting the client leadership team and influencing account strategies
  • Contribute your expertise on Retail architecture and technology strategy to advisory engagements
  • Participate in public marketing activities that raise our Retail profile
  • Create thought leadership that inspires your colleagues and gives Thoughtworks a place in the public conversation about Retail and technology
  • Foster a community of Retail-interested technologists
  • Shape our Retail offerings and go-to-market for clients in Europe

Qualifications

  • You have a thorough understanding of the norms and challenges of Retail technology
  • You have sufficient breadth of knowledge to advise Retail clients on a variety of technical challenges
  • You actively follow and engage with developments in Retail and technology
  • You have a track record of translating technology strategy into execution
  • You have solid fundamentals on architecture and quality software development
  • You have strong engineering empathy but not necessarily a focus on active coding

  • You exhibit strong commercial awareness, have a clear understanding of the levers that drive profitability and a growth-oriented mindset
