We’re on a mission to rid the world of generic sentiment.

To make it more thortful. One brilliantly specific card at a time.

Rulebook? Shmulebook.

We’re not looking for followers.

We’re looking for smart, opinionated, high-performing humans who challenge the status quo. Kindly.

People who

  • Back themselves.
  • Push ideas further.
  • Take smart risks (not reckless ones).
  • Have strong opinions, lightly held.
  • And are, crucially, good to work with. (No brilliant jerks. Life’s too short.)

We’re transforming a category. That takes ambition, focus and character.

If you want to hide in the middle, we’re not your people.

If you want to help shape what comes next, pull up a chair.

Who we are

We’re thortful, an online greetings card marketplace powered by 6,000+ independent creators.

With 85,000+ brilliantly original cards (and some properly good gifts), we help people find that “so us” connection, from milestone birthdays to “congrats on the boob job” moments.

We’re not just another disruptor (ugh).

We actually mean it.

  • We back real humans
  • Every sale puts real money into the pockets of independent creators.
  • Born in Sheffield
  • Our print‑on‑demand model means no warehouses full of waste. Every card, like Sean Bean, is born in Sheffield.
  • Recyclable as standard
  • 100% recyclable. Even though they’re good enough to frame.
  • Vegan inks
  • Because David Attenborough raised us better than that.
  • Carbon-conscious
  • Through our sustainability partner Ecologi, we’ve funded 4,450 trees and avoided 630.04 tonnes of CO₂e. We also use lower‑carbon delivery partners, including DPD and Royal Mail.

We care about people.

We care about purpose.

We care about proper lovely bits of folded paper.

Who we’re looking for

The challengers.

The smart risk‑takers.

The go‑getters who know progress beats perfection.

The ones who’d rather ask “why not?” than “are we allowed?”

Who speak up with honesty, clarity and kindness.

Who do what they say they’re going to do.

Brave and thoughtful.

Fearlessly original. Endlessly curious.

Collaborative. Low ego. High standards.

If you’re tired of being a cog in a faceless machine and want to actually make a dent, we should talk.

Let’s make the world more thortful.

The role

This position is at the heart of thortful's data and analytics function.

Your core remit is BI: building and maintaining the dashboards, data models, and SQL‑driven outputs that the business runs on.

You will own the integrity and quality of our reporting layer, ensuring that every team from finance to marketing to gifting is working from data they trust.

With a direct line into board‑level commercial decisions from day one, the work you do here will be seen, used, and acted on.

We are looking for someone technically strong, intellectually curious, and commercially literate enough to understand why the numbers matter, not just how to produce them.

An appetite for getting under the bonnet of complex data problems is essential.

The ability to work across Amplitude alongside the core BI stack makes this role genuinely cross‑functional and interesting.

You will be joining a dynamic, high‑trust team where your work has immediate and visible impact, and where the scale of the moment means there is real scope to leave your mark.

  • What you’ll be doing
  • BI and reporting
  • Build and maintain Power BI dashboards for commercial, marketing, and other stakeholders, ensuring reporting is accurate, timely, and clearly structured
  • Develop Snowflake SQL data models and analytical outputs that underpin board reporting, trading reviews, and ad hoc commercial analysis
  • Own the integrity of our core reporting layer, ensuring consistency across metrics and a single source of truth across Snowflake, Amplitude, and Bloomreach
  • Work alongside a Data Engineer to ensure your analytical outputs are built on robust, scalable data pipelines
  • Build and maintain the data models and analytical outputs that underpin trading reviews, subscription reporting, category performance, and board packs
  • Own metric definitions and data consistency across the business, so that everyone is working from a single trusted source of truth
  • Support XTRAthortful cohort and retention reporting, building the data infrastructure that enables deep subscriber economics analysis
  • Respond to ad hoc data requests with speed and accuracy, knowing when to build something reusable and when a quick pull is the right answer
  • Product and behavioural analytics
  • Use Amplitude to support trading and marketing teams with funnel analysis, customer journey insight, and campaign measurement
  • Build reporting on user behaviour across key journeys including onboarding, basket building, subscription activation, and gifting
  • Contribute to replatform measurement needs, ensuring behavioural data infrastructure supports new platform tracking requirements
  • Bring curiosity about tooling and a willingness to challenge whether we are using the best tool for each job

About you

  • Strong SQL skills, ideally with Snowflake experience, and a track record of building clean, reliable data models that people actually use
  • Hands‑on Power BI experience, or comparable BI tooling, with an eye for dashboard design that makes data genuinely usable for non‑technical audiences
  • Technically rigorous and detail‑oriented, with a habit of getting to the root of data discrepancies and a high standard for output quality
  • Commercially literate and curious, with a sharp instinct for which data questions actually matter to the business
  • A genuine love of complex data problems, the kind of person who finds an interesting edge case energising rather than irritating
  • Experience in an ecommerce, marketplace, or subscription business
  • Self‑directed and ownership‑driven, comfortable setting your own agenda and delivering with minimal hand‑holding
  • Experience with Amplitude, Mixpanel, Heap, or a comparable product analytics platform
  • Familiarity with Bloomreach or similar CDP or CRM platforms
  • Exposure to cohort analysis, LTV modelling, or subscription economics
  • Experience working alongside or within a product or technology replatform
  • Some of the thortful perks
  • Flexi time
  • One work from anywhere week per quarter
  • 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays (increasing with length of service)
  • Private health insurance with Vitality
  • Life Assurance
  • Sanctus coaching for personal and professional development
  • thortful credits worth £300 per year
  • A minimum of 4 learning and development days per year
  • Departmental learning and development budget
  • Cycle to work scheme and interest free travel loan
  • Salary Exchange Pension
  • Staff discounts and employee referral scheme
  • Regular team socials
  • Enhanced parental leave (subject to length of service)
  • Birthday wheel of thortune

Excited about this role but worried that you don’t meet all the criteria?

As with our creative marketplace, we’re after voices from all different walks of life who are united by a truly thortful outlook on life.
