Thorpewood Medical Group is a SystemOne Surgery based East of Norwich with a patient list of 12,500. We have a vacancy for a 5 session GP with a view to a Partnership, if desired, to join our established Allied Professional and Clinical Team. As a practice, we strive to provide high quality care and pride ourselves on excellent team-working. Your day will consist of routine and on the day appointments. You may be allocated home visits and you will undertake on call GP duties. You will be supported by our large team of GPs, ANPs, ACPs, Nurses, HCAs, Home Visiting and Pharmacy Teams, receptionists and administrators. Main duties of the job

  • To work as a committed practitioner, responsible for the provision of medical services to the practice population, delivering an excellent standard of clinical care whilst complying with the GMS contract.
  • Adhere to the GMC standards for good medical practice, contributing to the effective management of the practice, leading by example, maintaining a positive, collaborative working relationship with the multidisciplinary team.
  • Patient consultations on the phone and face to face.
  • Clinical examinations.
  • Health education.
  • Diagnosis and treatment of illnesses and ailments.
  • Liaising with other healthcare professionals internally and externally.
  • Administration and test resulting.
  • On Call Duty Doctor days.

Job responsibilities

  • The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population.
  • The provision of services commensurate with the GMS contract.
  • Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance.
  • Effective management of long-term conditions.
  • Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks.
  • On a rotational basis, undertake telephone triage and duty doctor roles.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance.
  • Work collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload.
  • Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process.
  • Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice.
  • Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) or the QOF.
  • Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required.
  • Contribute effectively to the development and maintenance of the practice including clinical governance and training.
  • Ensure compliance with the appraisal process.
  • Prepare and complete the revalidation process.
  • Commit to self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team.
  • Support the training of medical students from all clinical disciplines.
  • Support the partners in achieving the strategic aims of the practice, making recommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditure.
  • Review and always adhere to practice protocols and policies.
  • Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, always promoting a culture of continuous improvement.

Additional responsibilities

  • Participate in practice audits as requested by the audit lead.
  • Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care.
  • Participate in the review of significant and near-miss events applying a structured approach i.e., root cause analysis (RCA).

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Fully qualified GP with GMC registration.
  • Annual appraisal and revalidation (when appropriate).
  • General practice (Vocational Training Scheme) trained.
  • On medical performers list.
  • Enhanced DBS check.
  • UK driving license.
  • Current CPR certificate.
  • UK work permit (if required).
  • Evidence of continued professional development.
  • LTC training (Diabetic, Asthma, COPD, CHD and CKD).

Experience

  • Chronic disease management.
  • Primary prevention and screening services.
  • Clinical governance.
  • Delivery of QOF targets.
  • Self-audit and reflection.
  • Organised and efficient in record keeping and completion of paperwork.
  • Time management; being able to prioritise work and work under pressure.
  • Adaptability to change.
