What you'll bring to the team

Electrical Maintenance Engineering Supervisor
Location: THORPE PARK Resort, KT16 8PN
Hours: Open Season (March-Nov): 7 on 4 off, then 7 on 3 off shift pattern with split shifts. Closed Season (Nov-Mar) Monday-Friday
Salary: Starting from £51,597

The Engineering Area Supervisor Electrical is required to consistently demonstrate superior performance across a broad spectrum of integrated activities in support of the appointed Area Manager. It is expected that the position holder will pursue the same agreed and measurable departmental objectives as colleagues in similar managerial or supervisory roles.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities in this position will change dependent on Thorpe Parks operational season and please be aware that some of these responsibilities would be undertaken at height.

  • Implementation and control of Health and Safety activities within area of responsibility
  • Facilitation of the Technical Services – Operations team interface while enhancing communication practices between groups
  • Supporting Marketing initiatives in area of influence when necessary
  • Demonstration and monitoring of sound financial stewardship and control within scope of activities and authority
  • Contributing to enhancing Organisational Capability through consistent demonstration and role modelling a combination of technical expertise and behavioural competencies
  • Identifying, nurturing, growing and retaining a technically strong, mutually supportive and committed team of professionals, acting as mentor and inspiration to all colleagues
  • Promoting and championing delivery of core Technical Services values, mission and objectives ensuring implementation throughout work team whilst simultaneously maintaining alignment with Resort priorities
  • Attainment of internal customer recognition as the primary technical resource when required to react to planned and unplanned situations and events, managing situations as necessary through consistent performance in carrying out the responsibilities of the Echo 1 role

Qualifications & Experience

  • An ONC, NVQ level 3 or BTEC equivalent gained through an Apprenticeship or college route in engineering.
  • Post apprenticeship/qualification experience
  • Inspection experience would be advantageous
  • Full understanding of engineering-related statutory requirements such as COSHH.
  • Experience of planned preventative maintenance systems of work.
  • The ability to read and use engineering drawings.
  • The ability to display problem solving and diagnostic skills.
  • Previous work in a theme park environment is not essential, engineering experience gathered on other electrical systems will be equally suitable.
  • Have experience of using technical manuals, risk assessments and related documentation.
  • Maintain full compliance with external and internal mandatory requirements, including responding accordingly to Safety Bulletins, Technical Bulletins, Technical Manual Revisions, PPM Amendments etc
  • To assist engineering managers with the planning and delivery of annual engineering activities, business KPIs and other long-term objectives during the operational season and Annual Inspection period

The role calls for strong people skills, leadership skills and an ability to clearly focus on the planning & preparation of the activities administered by the engineering teams, throughout the operational season and winter maintenance period.

It is envisaged that the person(s) carrying out this key role will possess and actively demonstrate a blend of highly developed technical competences commensurate with the scope of the role, complemented with demonstrable behavioural competencies that are the hallmarks of an effective and respected team supervisor.
