What you'll bring to the team:

  • The Senior Area Engineering Manager is required to consistently demonstrate superior performance across a broad spectrum of integrated activities in support of the appointed Area Manager.
  • It is expected that the position holder will pursue the same agreed and measurable departmental objectives as colleagues in similar managerial roles.
  • To instil a quality work ethic within the team covering all aspects of personal and work team activities, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the work team.
  • To champion the use of contemporary working practices and relevant tools to improve efficiency across the department, e.g. Infor, RCA.
  • To implement methodologies that mitigate the potential impact of knowledge degradation or erosion due to movement of key team personnel.
  • To maintain full compliance with external and internal mandatory requirements, including responding accordingly to Safety Bulletins, Technical Bulletins, Technical Manual Revisions, PPM Amendments etc.
  • To manage resources within your area of responsibility in order to ensure that the department delivers the proactive and reactive maintenance element of the operation day and has sufficient flexibility to react to any variations to the operational calendar.
  • To assist engineering managers with the planning and delivery of annual engineering activities and to ensure that the department is well set up and sufficiently resourced in order to deliver ride availability targets, business KPIs and long term objectives during the operational season and Annual Inspection period.
  • To assist with review and update existing departmental procedures.
  • To ensure all Health & Safety legislation, Codes of Practice (ECoSWP and CoSWP), Risk Assessments and company procedures are strictly followed within your area of responsibility.
  • To assist and support the Engineering Managers with delivering business strategy and business directives within agreed time frames.
  • To ensure all rides and attractions in area of responsibility obtain a permanent (DOC) prior to each ride going into operation and to hand over of rides to the operation to the agreed deadlines.
  • Where a temporary (DOC) has been issued a plan must be developed to ensure the status is made permanent as soon as is reasonable practical.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • A recognised Engineering qualification (e.g., apprenticeship, HNC/HND, or degree) in Electrical, Mechanical, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience leading multi-skilled maintenance teams in a fast-paced, safety-critical environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of planned preventative maintenance (PPM), fault-finding, and reliability improvement across mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Demonstrable experience delivering statutory inspections, annual inspection programmes, and safe handover of assets into operation.
  • A strong grasp of UK H&S legislation and practical application of HSG175, with a track record of audit-ready compliance.
  • Experience managing contractors and permit-to-work / control of contractors processes, ensuring safe delivery and quality standards.
  • Sound commercial awareness, with experience managing budgets, tracking spend, and driving value for money without compromising safety.
  • Competence in using CMMS and continuous improvement tools (e.g., Infor, RCA methodologies) to improve availability and performance.
  • A people-first leadership style, with experience in rostering, capability/performance management, coaching, and developing high-performing teams.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, able to partner with Operations, Compliance, and external inspection bodies.

Desirable:

  • Experience within theme parks, visitor attractions, or similarly guest-facing operational environments.
