Currently seeking an experienced Design Engineer on a permanent staff basis for an oilfield services company based in Westhill, Aberdeenshire.
This position will involve design and analysis for sustaining and new product activities. The Design Engineer will have the following main duties and responsibilities:
- Create drawings and other engineering documents in accordance with engineering procedures.
- Carry out FEA and manual calculations to support existing product lines or new products.
- Assembly and testing of new and existing products.
- Issue testing procedures and reports.
- Support the workshop operations by creating and maintaining work instructions and procedures.
- Keep project files updated in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Support & control procurement and inspection of prototype components.
- Maintain electronic media, engineering filing system and hardware in an appropriate manner.
- Support Sales and Marketing by creating relevant documentation such as renders, spec sheets and tool layouts.
Experience / Qualifications
- A degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering (or a similar discipline) is essential.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in the mechanical design of downhole oil and gas products is essential.
- Applicants should have experience in the testing and assembly of downhole tools.
- Experience in FEA analysis is essential.
- CFD analysis experience would be beneficial.
- Applicants will be expected to have experience in some or all of the following areas: mechanics, hydraulics, fluid flow, risk analysis, and API standards.
