A new opportunity has arisen within an established Accountancy Firm for an Accounts Assistant to manage client accounts, bookkeeping, and VAT processes for a range of clients of varying sizes.

The role involves preparing and reviewing accounts, maintaining accurate financial records, and liaising confidently with clients and colleagues to meet deadlines.

This is a hands‑on position offering opportunities for professional development, and a supportive team environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Preparing and reviewing client accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Managing bookkeeping and VAT processes for a range of clients, using industry-standard accounting software.
  • Maintaining comprehensive and accurate financial records, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to meet deadlines and deliver high‑quality client work.
  • Liaising directly with clients to provide support and address accounting queries professionally.
  • Contributing to process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy within the team.
  • Handling multiple client accounts with autonomy and accountability, demonstrating reliability in delivery.

About You

  • Proven experience in accounting, ideally within a practice environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of accounting principles, VAT, and bookkeeping processes.
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Confident in managing client relationships and delivering accurate work to deadlines.
  • Motivated to develop professionally and take on increasing responsibility within the team.
