This 12-month contract role supports a UK energy operator, with responsibility for end-to-end contract lifecycle management across an Operations & Maintenance contracts portfolio. The position works closely with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to maximise value delivery through strategic sourcing, complex contract negotiation, supplier management, and continuous improvement activity. Hybrid working is available, with three days per week in the office and two working from home.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing end-to-end contract lifecycle activities across assigned Operations & Maintenance contracts, from strategy and negotiation through execution and close-out.
- Developing and implementing category and contract strategies aligned with operational and business requirements.
- Leading competitive sourcing, tendering, and negotiation processes for goods and services, applying judgement on commercial risk and supply resilience.
- Drafting, negotiating, and agreeing commercial contracts, engaging internal stakeholders to ensure risks are understood and managed.
- Acting as the commercial point of reference for assigned categories, providing insight on market dynamics, suppliers, and regulatory considerations.
- Identifying and delivering value improvement initiatives, including cost optimisation and total acquisition cost reduction.
- Managing supplier performance and compliance, addressing non-performance and contractual issues as they arise.
- Supporting operational teams with in-life contract management, dispute resolution, and contract renewals.
- Challenging requirements and renegotiating contracts in-life and at renewal to optimise value and end-of-term outcomes.
- Contributing to continuous improvement across contracting and supplier management activity, supporting less experienced team members where required.
About you
- Clear understanding of end-to-end contract lifecycle management within an operational environment, with oil and gas experience preferable.
- Experience managing complex, business-critical contracts.
- Demonstrable capability in leading commercial negotiations and managing contractual risk.
- Sound understanding of contract law and the application of industry-standard contract models.
- Comfortable operating in a matrix organisation, influencing senior stakeholders and managing competing priorities.
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Degree-level education or equivalent relevant experience, with professional supply chain membership advantageous.
